“Prologue to an Antiphoner” (lat. “Prologus in antiphonarium”) by Guido of Arezzo is mostly known as a source where «our» linear notation was for the first time (along with his versified textbook “Regulae rhythmicae”) theoretically described. This Russian translation of the “Prologue” is based on the critical edition of Joseph М. Smits van Waesberghe (1975) which is synchronized with the translation. The publication also includes an introductory article, detailed commentary to the treatise, and illustrations.
