A piezoelectric-driven Scott-Russel linear micropositioner utilizing the stick-slip effect of friction to drive a slider is presented. Effects of sawtooth, impulse, and transcendental electrical wave forms on the device performance are studied via numerical simulation and experiment test. The experiment demonstrates that positioning step sizes of 0.05-120 m can be achieved at low input voltages of 2-25 V and essentially with unlimited travel range.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
