This article considers the specifics and main directions of educational work with foreign students at the stage of pre-university training in the context of distance education. The authors of the article identify several applications of the possibilities of Internet technologies not only for educational purposes, but also for transferring cultural and educational activities of educational institutions to the social network platform. This format of the activities clearly demonstrates that the possibilities of the Internet can be effective and appropriate in linguodidactic activities, being considered not only as a means of training and education, but also as a means of communication, obtaining information and entertainment. The authors compare offline and online formats of an educational event and consider in detail and comprehensively different aspects of its successful implementation from the definition of objectives to the final processing of the results. The realization of a presentation competition and the Internet capabilities listed in the article allow the authors to recommend this online format for use as a developed and interesting tool for working with students and involving them in the ongoing events.
