Functional characteristics of polythene chromosomes and chromosomal aberrations of 177 Glyp totendipes glaucus (Diptera, Chironomidae) larvae from water reservoirs of Russia and Ukraine, Chernobyl, have been analyzed. A similarity in the spectrum of chromosomal aberrations has been determined. Common inversion types in A, B, D, and E arms have been found. The influence of radioactive contamination (Cher nobyl') on the functional changes in nucleolus, Balbiani rings, puffs, and bands and interbands morphology have been discovered.
