BackgroundOnline exercise interventions can improve physical outcomes. Online supervised exercise program is more effective than unsupervised exercise program.ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to determine the effect of an online supervised exercise program on fasting blood glucose, body mass index (BMI), resilience and quality of life in older people with diabetes.MethodsThis parallel group randomised controlled study included 70 older patients with Type 2 diabetes. Participants were divided into online supervised and unsupervised exercise training groups. Participants in the online‐supervised exercise group were given an online‐supervised exercise program 3 days a week for 6 weeks. Personal Information Form, Short Resilience Scale and Quality of Life Scale in Older People were used to collect data. In addition, fasting blood sugar BMI and values were measured.ResultsAccording to the results of our study, while there was no significant difference between the pre‐and post‐training scores of the supervised and unsupervised groups on the Psychological Resilience Scale and Quality of Life Scale, it was observed that there was a significant difference in both groups according to time (p < .05). When the difference between the scores of the groups before and after the training was analysed according to time, a significant difference was observed between the online‐supervised and unsupervised exercise groups (p < .05). In addition, it was seen that there was a significant difference in the fasting blood sugar and BMI results of the online‐supervised exercise group according to time (p < .05).ConclusionsOnline supervised exercise program decreases fasting blood sugar and BMI, increases psychological resilience and quality of life of older patients with Type 2 diabetes.Implication for practiceOnline supervised exercise program may be an additional treatment that provides benefits for older people with diabetes who cannot participate in clinical‐based rehabilitation programs.
Bulgular: Katılımcıların Covid 19’a ilişkin aldıkları tedbirlere baktığımızda %76.7’sinin (n=197) maske, eldiven gibi kişisel koruyucu ekipmanları kullandığı, %52.9’unun (n=136) hijyen kurallarına uyduğu görülmektedir. Covid 19 sürecinin yüz yüze eğitimi nasıl etkilediğine bakıldığında, öğrencilerin %43.2’sinin (n=111) her zamanki gibi hissettiği, %33.5’inin (n=86) gelecek konusunda endişeli/kaygılı hissettiği belirtilmektedir.
This research aims to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours of midwives and nurses with regard to traditional and complementary treatment methods. Material-Method: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out between May and August 2021 with the participation of 248 midwives and nurses working in a District Health Directorate in the Mediterranean Region. A questionnaire about the knowledge and opinions of midwives and nurses with regard to traditional and complementary medicine, prepared by the researchers by reviewing the literature, and the Attitudes towards Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scale were used to collect the study data. In the comparison of quantitative data, the Student-t testi and Mann-Whitney U test was used in the case of two groups, and the Oneway Anova and Kruskal-Wallis test was used for more than two groups. Also, Pearson Korelasyon Coefficient was used to evaluate the linear relationship between two numerical measurements. Results: In order to prevent the unconscious use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine methods among the public, it is important for midwives and nurses to have sufficient knowledge about these methods and to investigate their level of knowledge. The Scale mean score of the midwives and nurses was determined as 26.86±7.46. The negative, weak correlation between the ages of the participants and their Complementary and Alternative Medicine sub-dimension score was found to be statistically significant (p=0,001; p<0,01). The negative, weak correlation between the ages of the participants and their Holistic Health sub-dimension score was found to be statistically significant (p=0,022; p<0,05). Conclusion: Although the midwives and nurses lacked knowledge about Traditional and Complementary Medicine methods, their attitudes were positive and they were willing to receive training. All midwives and nurses interested in or practicing CAM should be strengthened in this field in order to gain necessary skills by participating in training programs.
We aimed to reveal fear of childbirth among primiparous women followed up in family health centers and related factors during the pandemic. We conducted this cross-sectional, epidemiological study between September and November 2020 with 117 women (95.1%) conveniently selected within the target population of primiparous women followed up in fifteen family health centers. In the data collection, we used an introductory information form for the pregnant and the Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire - Version A (W-DEQ-A). We utilized one-way analysis of variance and independent samples t-test to compare the group, and p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The findings revealed that about half of the participants (52.1%) were 18-25 years, and 43.6% had primary or secondary school education. We found the mean W-DEQ-A score to be 64.69±19.44. We concluded that those aged 34-41 years had significantly lower W-DEQ-A scores than those aged 18-25 and 26-33 years (p < 0.001). Overall, the participants had a moderate fear of childbirth. Besides, age, educational attainment, place of residence for the last six months, monthly household income, and pregnancy planning status were the variables associated with fear of childbirth.
