Soft tissue tumors involving the hand are common and most often benign. It is important to know the spectrum of soft tissue tumors of the hand and understand the typical as well as atypical imaging features are seen on different imaging modalities. The imaging features are largely determined by the tumor histopathology; thus, the basic idea about the tumor histopathology will always be useful. This article intends to focus on a comprehensive approach including demographics, clinical presentation, and imaging findings required to diagnose the tumor definitely or narrow the differentials. This article discusses common soft tissue tumor mimics of the hand as well, however, excludes the bone tumors for the sake of brevity.
Background: Image processing based catheter selection is a newly developed procedure in which a catheter is selected based onpatient's image data, acquired prior to the intervention. In this technique, the arteries are extracted from the data followed by thecomputation of geometric parameters for all available catheters.Objectives: To propose an improved algorithm for estimating geometric parameters such as coronary artery curve angle andlength of the coronary artery curve.Material& Methods: We propose a new framework to compute the geometric parameters from the patient magnetic resonance /computed tomography images. In order to meet the clinical time constraint, we calculate CACA and CACL in 3D MR cardiacimages of the patients.Results: The method has been tested on seven MR cardiac images provided by Unieklinikum Wrzburg. The results show moreaccuracy and less computation time as compared to the already developed method.Conclusion: The proposed algorithm uses an enhanced method for extracting 3D curve to calculate the angle and there by greatlyreduces the computation time and improves the accuracy.Keywords: Optimal catheter; Right coronary angiography; Catheter selection; Landmarks; Geometricparameter
Controlling the population growth is one of the most feasible solutions to reduce burden on the country and it can be achieved by effective use of contraception. This study was designed to analyze the trends of utilization of different family planning methods in relation with socio-demographic factors at divisional headquarter hospital in a year time. A retrospective study was performed by analyzing one year records from family planning clinic at divisional headquarter hospital. At family planning centers, a total of 920 individuals attended the Reproductive Health Services from April 2015 to March 2016. Among them, 92% individual utilized temporary methods and only 8% utilized permanent methods. Regarding temporary solutions, a total of 299 (33%) selected intrauterine device, 233 (25%) had used injectable, 191 (21%) adapted oral contraception pills and 121 (13%) selected Barrier methods (condoms). Among permanent solutions, atotal of 76 (8%) had bilateral tubal ligation and no vasectomy. Investigations highlighted that males were not convinced to adapt male sterilization owing to social pressure of family. Findings of this study showed that the majority of the individuals are comfortable with the use of intrauterine contraception devices; howeverneed of the hour is to introduce awareness compaigns to educate general public for better use of contraception especially male partner as it is less invasive compared to female partner.
In the present study, four new chemistry insecticides (Radiant, Chlorfenapyr, Belt and Match) were used to evaluate the haemocytological activity of Chilo partellus. LC50 and LC60 values of each insecticide were calculated by bioassay test. After the application of Radiant insecticide, the total haemocytes count immediately increased (78548.5 cells/mm3) as compared to normal (71255 cells/mm3), however, after 30 minutes decreased to (71694 cells/mm3) and after 60 minutes of interval, the total haemocytes count again increased (80215 cell/mm3). Percent plasmotcytes increased from untreated to 26%, while the spherulocytes, granulocytes, prohaemocytes and cystocytes also fluctuated from the untreated as 26%, 6.75%, 33% and 3.75% respectively. After the application of Chlorfenpyr insecticide, the total Haemocytes count immediately increased (80920.75 cells/mm3) as compared to normal (71255 cells/mm3), however after 30 minutes decreased to (71155 cells/mm3) and after 60 minutes, the total haemocytes count again increased (84100 cell/mm3). Percent plasmotcytes increased from untreated to 36%, while the spherulocytes, granulocytes, prohaemocytes and cystocytes also fluctuated from the untreated to 23.5%, 5.5%, 29% and 1.5% respectively. After the application of Belt insecticide, the total haemocytes count immediately increased (87200 cells/mm3) as compared to normal (71255 cells/mm3) and after 30 minutes decreased (71270 cells/mm3) and after 60 minutes, the total haemocytes count again increased (89640 cell/mm3). Percent plasmotcytes increased from untreated to 36%, while the spherulocytes, granulocytes, prohaemocytes and cystocytes also fluctuated from the untreated to 32.5%, 8.5%, 17.25% and 4.75% respectively. After the application of Match insecticide, the total haemocytes count immediately increased (87500 cells/mm3) as compared to normal (72155 cells/mm3) while after 30 minutes decreased (72190 cells/mm3) and after 60 minutes, the total haemocytes count again increased (99800 cell/mm3). Percent plasmotcytes increased from untreated to 33%, while the spherulocytes, granulocytes, prohaemocytes and cystocytes also fluctuated from the untreated to 31%, 14%, 23% and 4% respectively.
