This study examines the influence of social entrepreneurship pedagogy on the behavioural outcomes of the Nigerian universities' students; regarding their attitudes, intentions and behaviours towards social venture creation. The Nigeria university system is producing graduates as employees rather than employers of labour. Insights were drawn from the theory of planned behaviour and theory 'U' in this inquiry. The principles of quantitative and correlational methods were combined in an explanatory research design. The multivariate statistical analyses used in this study are exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, structural equation modelling as well as model fit indices. The results point to a significant positive relationship between social entrepreneurial pedagogy and students behavioural outcomes in the Nigerian universities. Results also show that pedagogical contents exert the greatest influence on students' intentions towards creating social ventures. Students' attitudes mediate the relationship between social entrepreneurial pedagogy and students' behavioural outcomes in Nigeria.
This paper examines the effect of support for entrepreneurship development on economic growth and development in Nigeria with a view to ameliorating some problems militating against the development of Nigeria. Secondary data was sourced from CBN reports, NBS reports and so on. Hypotheses were set and tested by engaging the linear regression method as the analytical tool. The results discovered that government policy has helped in developing entrepreneurs' skill in Nigeria and that whatever polices formulated in the time past has not helped in the development of entrepreneurial skill. In light of these, it was recommended that policies of entrepreneur development and the delivery institutions must be appropriate so that the small industrial units that are being promoted do not fall into a peculiar and complex difficulty.
Climate change is an observable variation in the climate systems that are attributable to human (anthropogenic) activities and natural process (biogeographical), which alters the atmospheric composition of the earth and ultimately leads to global warming. The relationship between climate change (measured by increasing temperature trend and decreasing rainfall trend) and the business activities of cassava farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria appears not to have been fully examined; this study examines the relationship between climate change and the business activities of Cassava farmers in Ogun State. This study employs survey research design, through the administration of structured questionnaire to cassava farmers in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State. The research instrument (questionnaire) was validated using content validity index, through the assessment of five academics staff (in the departments of business administration and agriculture) at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and Ibogun Campus, Ogun state, while the reliability of the instrument was tested through test-retest method by conducting a pilot study. The instrument was administered twice within an interval of two weeks and the outcome of the first pilot study was correlated with that of the second and a Cronbach alpha of 0.79 was obtained, which indicated that the instrument is reliable. The regression model was tested using categorical regression with the aid of STATA version 14. The findings revealed that climate change is negatively related to the business activities of cassava farmers in Ogun State with coefficient and probability value of: increasing temperature trend (-0.54, p-value<0.05) and decreasing rainfall trend (-0.72, p-value<0.05). It can therefore be concluded that increasing temperature trend and decreasing rainfall trend, have an inverse relationship with the business activities of cassava farmers in Ogun State, Nigeria. It is recommended that the government should come up with eco-friendly policies as well as liaising with other nations to combat global warming as well as creating irrigational facilities to augment decreasing rainfall, cassava farmers should maximize the use of the raining season as well as creating small irrigational facilities.
This study investigated the effect of business process reengineering on the performance of insurance firms in Nigeria, by employing two components of business process reengineering. Survey research design was adopted, through the administration of structured questionnaires on some selected staff of insurance companies at their head offices in Lagos, Nigeria. The research instrument was validated through content validity index (CVI), while the reliability of the research instrument was tested through test-retest method. The findings revealed that, the two components of business process reengineering adopted for this study have individual positive significant effect on insurance firms' performance and adoption of new process. The F-statistics revealed that the two components of business process reengineering adopted for this study have positive significant combined effect on insurance firms' performance in Nigeria. The adjusted coefficient of determination implied that, change in insurance firms' performance is explained by the combined business process reengineering components. It is therefore concluded that, business process reengineering components are important drivers of insurance firms' performance. It is recommended that, insurance firms should introduce new technology that will aid insurance penetration, especially information communication technology (ICT). The deployment of ICT tends to make it easier for existing and new customers to pick-up insurance policies through their smart phones or personal computers. Furthermore, insurance firms should equally come up with reengineered processes. The process of serving their customers should be enhanced.
The importance of technology in advancing experiential learning and building entrepreneurs that can withstand the challenges and explore the opportunities in the fourth industrial revolution are enormous. The chapter adopted a literature review approach to establish the link between technology incubator and entrepreneurship development. The concepts of technology incubator and entrepreneurship development as well as other related concepts were extensively discussed. It identifies the need for adequate investments toward tech entrepreneurship development and tech-savvy for the future through technology incubation programmes. Such programmes set to aid innovativeness, creating jobs, fast-tracking research to industry linkages, building wealth by fostering the formation of new ventures, among others. The chapter concludes that institutions for entrepreneurship development need to shift their tents to cover major areas of technological revolution, particularly technological incubation to promote entrepreneurship development in Industry 4.0.
