Problem statement:This study investigated and identified the importance role of MIS in decision-making process during crises at the Directorate General of Border Guard in Saud Arabia. In addition, it examines obstacles that limit the role of MIS in decision-making during crises. Approach: The study used the descriptive research design of the survey type. Data were collected from a sample of all officers in the Directorate General of Border Guard (DGBG) in Saud Arabia. Respondents consisting of officers holding administrative positions and senior heading units using stratified random sampling technique. Results: Data collected were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, means, standard deviation and Chi square test statistics. The study revealed that MIS was adequately used in decision-making during crises. Conclusion: The study confirmed that the MIS should be used more heavily in the decision process during crises. It was recommended that the MIS units should be maintained to ensure a free flow of information and adequate use of MIS in decision-making.
Problem statement: Internet Relay Chatting (IRC) is a multi-user, multi-channel chat system that runs on a network. It gives people the ability to participate in a synchronous exchange of thoughts with one or more people over a computer network. Approach: Currently, there is a lot of cheating during the chatting since the chatters do not know each other. However, it is very hard to determine how far is the cheating occurs during chatting. Results: We presented results of a case study based on a survey that investigate the relation between chatting and cheating. Survey results show that more than four in ten participant indicated that they give false information and act dishonestly while chatting. Conclusion: Survey results showed that chatting has more negative effects than positive effects. Other interesting results were included in the study.
Problem statement: This study investigated zero crossing features and selected MPEG-7 audio descriptors for environment sound recognition applications such as audio forensics. Approach: The study implemented several experiments focusing on the problems of environment recognition from audio particularly for forensic applications. Results: It was investigated the effect of the temporal zero crossing feature as well as selected MPEG-7 audio low level descriptors on environment sound recognition. The performance was evaluated against a varying number of training sounds and samples per training file. Conclusion/Recommendations: Experimental results showed that higher recognition accuracy is achieved by increasing the number of training files and by decreasing the number of samples per training file. This study presented an audio environment recognition using zero crossing features and MPEG-7 Descriptors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
