Much publicity has been given to the health risks associated with being overweight, and the rising incidence of obesity has been the concern of the medical profession over the last 20 or 30 years. This has resulted in the approach to treating obesity being primarily medical, which although theoretically correct has not proved sufficiently effective in practice to overcome the problems facing an overweight person.
