Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan peran politik identitas etnis dalam ranah politik dan untuk mengidentifikasi dampak politik identitas etnis dalam pilkades di Desa Siru Kecamatan Lembor kabupaten Manggarai Barat. Informan ditentukan secara purposive sampling, diambil sesuai dengan kebutuhan yang dianggap mampu memberi informasi untuk menjawab permasalahan penelitian. Oleh karena itu, informan yang ditetapkan yaitu kepala desa, tokoh masyarakat, tokoh adat, tokoh pemuda dan masyarakat setempat. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data melalui berbagai tahapan, seperti reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan, sedangkan teknik keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber, waktu dan teknik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran identitas etnis dalam ranah politik pada setiap pilkades di Desa Siru cukup jitu dijadikan jargon oleh masing-masing kontestan sebagai simbol dan basis untuk mencapai kekuasaan atau sebagai kepala desa. Strategi ini dinilai sukses dengan melihat kondisi masyarakat di Desa Siru yang multi etnis. Sudah beberapa kali dilakukan pilkades pada umumnya didominasi dan dimenangkan oleh etnis Ndahe sebagai etnis mayoritas. Adapun dampak dari politik identitas etnik ini adalah terjadinya konflik yang tergolong ke dalam konflik kepentingan. Hasil konstruksi identitas dalam kontestasi pilkades memunculkan suatu situasi yaitu individu-individu mengidentifikasikan dirinya dengan sesama etnis sehingga lahir suatu sikap etnosentrisme dan menimbulkan konflik social berskala kecil. Meski konflik tersebut tergolong konflik ringan dan tidak bersifat permanen.
This study aims to determine the survival strategy of Bajo tribal coastal community in Sulaho Village, North Kolaka Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used are participatory observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that their survival strategies are (1) active relationship and (2) passive relationship. Active relationship is the relation of social process horizontally (the relationship of fellow citizens) with livelihoods as fishermen. As fishermen, they sell their fish catches in traditional markets and if their fish do not sell, they exchange their fish with goods (barter) between traders. They also carry out a system of labor division based on sex, men (fathers, husbands, and sons) act as fishermen or looking for fish in the sea, while women (mothers, wives, and daughters) work in the kitchen and as seller of fish catches in the markets. Meanwhile, passive relationship is the relation of social process vertically (the relationship with government). This includes their limitations in the fields of education, economics and social. They really need attention and assistance from the local government, but in fact there is emptiness (vacuum-relation) until now. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi bertahan hidup masyarakat pesisir suku Bajo di Desa Sulaho, Kabupaten Kolaka Utara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi partisipasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi bertahan hidup mereka berupa (1) relasi aktif, dan (2) relasi pasif. Relasi aktif adalah hubungan proses sosial yang bersifat horizontal (hubungan sesama masyarakat) dengan mata pencaharian sebagai nelayan. Sebagai nelayan, mereka menjual hasil tangkapannya di pasar-pasar tradisional dan jika hasil tangkapannya tidak laku, mereka melakukan pertukaran hasil nelayan dengan barang (barter) antarpedagang. Mereka juga melakukan sistim pembagian kerja berdasarkan jenis kelamin, kaum pria (bapak, suami, dan anak laki-laki) berperan sebagai nelayan atau mencari ikan di laut, sedangkan kaum wanita (ibu, istri, dan anak perempuan) bertugas di dapur dan sebagai penjual hasil tangkapan di pasar-pasar. Sementara itu, relasi pasif adalah hubungan proses sosial yang bersifat vertikal (hubungan masyarakat dengan pemerintah). Hal ini mencakup keterbatasan mereka di bidang pendidikan, ekonomi, dan sosial. Mereka sangat membutuhkan perhatian dan bantuan dari pemerintah setempat, tetapi faktanya terjadi kekosongan (vacuum-relation) hingga saat ini.Kata kunci: nelayan, strategi dan relasi, masyarakat pesisir.
Empowerment of education in a society that has limitations in all aspects, becomes a separate obstacle in efforts to eradicate the marginalization of education. This is one of the educational chaotics which is still experiencing fluctuations in the implementation of central policies which are regulated centrally and unilaterally without considering the local wisdom of each different region and resulting in a slump in the education of the Bajo Tribe children. This study uses descriptive qualitative with a case study approach of nine informants with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation and then analyzed. Strategies for alleviating the Marginalization of Education for Bajo Tribe children in North Kolaka Regency, namely: a) an effort to internalize the values believed by the community itself; b) empowerment through education based on local wisdom which includes: parental awareness of education, partisanship with government policies, and utilization of the environment for education.
This study aims to explain information about the patterns of family decision making for parents who have children with special needs in the city of Makassar. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study show that parents are key figures who play a very important role in providing role models, guidance, and affection in the process of child development. The role of parents in the acceptance of children with special needs is very important. Parents are the best guides and helpers for the independence of children with special needs. The mother as one of the parents of children with special needs has an important role in understanding the needs and development of their children. This is related to the mother's acceptance of children with disabilities, which is shown in the attitude to face children. If parents lack understanding of children with special needs, it can result in a lack of attention and consider the child to be unlucky in the family. Parents are the determinants of a child's life before and after birth. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to fully accept the existence of their children and treat them equally in all aspects of life with children in general without any discriminatory attitude and to provide the widest possible opportunity for education.
