This study aimed to evaluate the behavioral aspects and beliefs of the population of Ceará in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. An online questionnaire was conducted on sociodemographic aspects and opinions related to the pandemic. Absolute and relative frequencies were calculated, the association between variables was performed with Chi-square, and the level of significance was 5%. The final sample had 2,259 participants, and an association was observed between females and perceiving themselves with a high risk of infection (p = 0.044) and males with non-performance of voluntary quarantine (p < 0.001). People aged 80 years and over were partially quarantined due to the flow of people at home (p < 0.001). Participants with elementary school education had a lower risk of infection than participants with a higher level of education (p < 0.001). This group includes people who did voluntary quarantine the least (p < 0.001). Participants living in the inland region of the state had less direct contact with someone tested positive for the Coronavirus (p = 0.031) and are less reclusive (p < 0.001). We can conclude that the approach to the COVID-19 pandemic varies by social aspects, such as gender, age, education, and place of residence, as well as the belief system of the population of the State of Ceará.
We developed a simple device to teach the concept of pH to visually impaired people through an experimental approach. An interface between a glass electrode and an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software (Arduino Uno) was designed using an operational amplifier of ultralow input current. A headphone connected to digital output from Arduino Uno was employed to convert the electrical signals from pH to sound frequency. Using an audio file that emits sound frequencies, visually impaired students were trained to associate specific frequencies with pH values. There is a direct relationship between the logarithm of sound frequency from a given musical note and a pH value, which can be used to train students with low vision who would otherwise have difficulty observing pH values from visual indications. Sound frequency signals of 131−659 Hz that correspond to the piano musical scale of C 3 , which is one octave below middle C (small octave or the "Do" note in solfege), to E 5 , one octave above middle E (two-lined octave or "Mi" note in solfege), were used to obtain sounds for the pH scale. Each musical note from these scales corresponded to one pH value with precision of 0.5 unit. This proposed method can be easily implemented in a laboratory with a relatively low cost.
Electroosmotic flow (EOF) was determined in tridimensional (3D)‐printed microchannels with dimensions smaller than 100 µm. Fused deposition modeling 3D printing using thermoplastic filaments of PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol), PLA (polylactic acid), and ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) were used to fabricate the microchannels. The current monitoring method and sodium phosphate solutions at different pH values (3–10) were used for the EOF mobility (µEOF) measurements, which ranged from 2.00 × 10−4 to 12.52 × 10−4 cm2 V−1 s−1. The highest and the smallest µEOF were obtained for the PLA and PETG microchannels, respectively. Adding the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide to the sodium phosphate solution caused EOF direction reversion in all the studied microchannels. The obtained results can be interesting for developing 3D‐printed microfluidic devices, in which EOF is relevant.
