Movement used by members of the felid family (e.g., jaguars, cheetahs, lions, domestic cats) to traverse their environment. Within this chapter, feline is the colloquial term given to members of the family Felidae in the order Carnivora. This includes wild cats, such as the jaguar (Panthera onca), the cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), and the lion (Panthera leo), and domestic cats (Felis catus) (Lamberski 2015). The Felidae family has the largest body size range in the order Carnivora (Lamberski 2015). Felids dwell in diverse habitats, such as forests, bushlands, and deserts, and are found naturally throughout the world, except for polar regions and places such as Madagascar, New Zealand, and Australia, where their presence is a result of
