The medium voltage direct current (MVDC) technology is emerging in electricity networks including point-to-point transmission, distribution networks and collection networks for renewable energy sources. In this article the MVDC break-even distance (with respect to AC distribution) is calculated according to the overall energy efficiency criteria. The break-even distance is found to vary from less than 10 km to several tens of kilometres depending on power and voltage ratings and network topology.Break-even distance for MVDC electricity networks according to power loss criteria LE METAYER Pierre EPE'21 ECCE Europe
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
