Highway transport has significant advantages because it allows for a direct carriage between start and end points, is more flexible than other transport types, and is relatively cheap, especially in shorthaul destinations. Turkey, which forms a natural bridge between East and West, has a competitive power in transit transport because of a highly favorable geographical structure of the country. Our country, it's aimed an important junction point in the world, adopts an effective, safe and economical highway policy in passenger and cargo transportation during the last 10 years thanks to the projects that have been alleged to strengthen international connections. In the study, its aimed to construct the 20 years projections of highway transport in the framework of adopted highways policy in Turkey. For this purpose, ex-ante pre-project estimates have been made for expenditures to highways, revenues obtained from highways, motorway length and highway traffic accidents. According to the ex-ante pre-reports, it has been predicted an increasing trend structure in the expenditures made to the highways, the revenues obtained from the higways and in the motorway length, also an decreasing trend in number of traffic accidents over the next 20 years.
The aim of this study is to measure the competitiveness of Turkey by making a comparative analysis between the Turkish agricultural, industrial, and services sectors involved in foreign trade and the corresponding sectors of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) nations. In addition to the determination of their relative competitiveness, assessments will be made about their competitiveness over time by analyzing the direction of the sectoral trends of the above-mentioned countries. In the study, after a brief theoretical overview, a summary of the literature related to the subject is provided, followed by a comparison of the competitiveness of the three sectors (agriculture, industry, and services) made by calculating the revealed comparative advantages (RCAs) of Turkey and the BRIC countries.
After the removal of sanctions against Iran, foreign investors' interest in Iran, where cheap labor force and attractive investment incentives are located, is regarded as a commercial threat for Turkey. Conversely, Turkey has important opportunities to increase its trade with Iran due shared borders and their trade agreements. In view of this perspective, it is aimed to examine Turkey's trade with Iran in order to evaluate the opportunities after the removal of sanctions. For this purpose, Iranian trade with Turkey, European Union (EU), United States (USA), Russia and China have been examined using Gravity Model for 1990-2016 period. It has seen that Turkey has a great commercial opportunity compared to the countries mentioned from the analysis results. The analyses have indicated that it is necessary for Turkey to increase its economic relations in order to be able to evaluate its trade opportunities with Iran.
