The strong ground motions like 1939 and 1992 Erzincan earthquakes caused loss of thousands of lives and total collapse of lots of buildings at the city centre; including historic buildings. From this point of view, Erzincan Değirmenliköy Church deserves a special attention. Being located very close to active faults, this historic masonry church is one of the rare historical buildings that survived these earthquakes. Although the main body of the building is completely standing, it is rumoured that the abscissa was destroyed during the 1939 Erzincan Earthquake. The authors of this article have carried out this study to examine the accuracy of this narration from a technical point of view. Figure A. Current situation of Erzincan Degirmenlikoy Church and the related structural model Purpose: The main purpose of the study is to understand dynamic behavior and technical reason of the loss of abscissa of Erzincan Degirmenlikoy church.
Theory and Methods:Technical information was collected about the church and a structural model that represents the current situation was created by using macro modelling technique. Mechanical properties of the masonry were obtained mainly by non-destructive tests and equations provided by Eurocode 6. Structural analysis model was calibrated via operational modal analysis through the dynamic behaviour parameters; the destroyed abscissa was speculated and added to the model. Dynamic analyses were performed by using earthquake records on the model with abscissa attachment. The seismic behaviour of the church was then evaluated over calculated deformation and stress values.
Results:As a main result of the research; it was concluded that the church abscissa may have been damaged over the connection zones with the whole body of the structure during the earthquake and then separated from the structure by the time passed.
Conclusion:Erzincan Değirmenliköy Church was studied for the first time from the technical point of view and its structural features were examined. As such, technical resources have been created for a possible restoration work in the future. It is thought that repeating the analysis with the synthetic earthquake record to be produced for the 1939 Erzincan earthquake will allow a more reliable examination of the structural behavior.
Bu çalışmada, MATLAB kodları kullanılarak hızlı iterasyon tekniği ile betonarme bir yapıya ait periyot hesabı yapabilen yazılım oluşturulmuştur. Bu yazılımda, SAP2000 OAPI ile yapı elemanlarının her birinin çıkarılması durumuna göre periyotlar elde edilmiştir. 2007-2018 Türk Deprem Yönetmeliklerinde yapı periyotları ve eleman çıkarma senaryoları karşılaştırmalı olarak hızlı bir şekilde iterasyon yapılmıştır. Sonuçta normal şartlar altında çok uzun zaman alacak olan tekrarlı yapısal analizler, oluşturulan yazılım ile çok kısa zamanda yapılmıştır ve yapısal problem teşkil etme ihtimali ile tüm yapı elemanları tek tek periyot bazında değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma bu yönüyle yapıların hasar senaryolarını oluşturma, çok yönlü analiz yapılabilmesi konularında inşaat mühendisliği alanında hızlı bir çözüm sunmaktadır. Aynı zamanda yapı elemanlarının değerlendirilmesinde bilgisayar otomasyonlarının kullanılmasına yönelik ihtiyacı gidermeye yönelik katkı sağlamaktadır.
