High Permittivity and Low Loss Dielectric Ceramics Ba5LnNiNb9O30 (Ln: La, Nd and Sm). -The new title ceramics are synthesized from stoichiometric mixtures of BaCO3, Ln2O3 (Ln: La, Nd, Sm), Ni2O3, and N2O5 (1350-1380°C, 6 h). The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, and dielectric measurements. All three compounds are paraelectric phases. At 1 MHz, the ceramics have high dielectric constants in the range 193-245.3, a low dielectric loss in the range 0.0059-0.0087, and the temperature coefficients of the dielectric constants are in the range from -1140 to -1310 ppm/°C. These materials might have potential applications in temperature-compensating capacitors. The key issue of these ceramics is to lower the dielectric loss further and to reduce the temperature coefficient of the dielectric constant in microwave applications. -(FANG, L.; MENG, S. S.; HU, C.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
