AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk menghasilkan produk pengembangan berupa media komik mengenai materi konflik sosial yang layak digunakan dari segi validitas, praktikalitas dan efektivitas. Pengembangan media komik ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada mata pelajaran sosiologi kelas XI. Media komik dirasa cukup efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran, karena komik memiliki gambar dan warna-warna yang bisa menarik perhatian peserta didik. Alur cerita pada komik juga didirancang semenarik mungkin agar siswa mau membacanya hingga selesai. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah research and developmet (R&D). Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan milik Bord And Gall. Uji coba produk dilakukan pada siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Payakumbuh dengan sumlah 36 peserta didik. Kelayakan produk ini dari segi validitas telah diuji oleh dua orang ahli dengan hasil validitas media dengan rata-rata 4,10 dengan nilai validitas 82% (sangat baik). Untuk validitas materi diperoleh rata-rata 4.5 dengan nilai validitas 90% (sangat baik). Sedangkan pratikalitas media mendapatan rata-rata 4.65. Terakhir untuk uji keefektifan media didapatkan perbandingan thitung > ttabel yang artinya medi komik efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada mata pelajaran sosiologi. AbstractThis research was conducted to develop comic media about social conflict material to improve students' of class XI understanding on sociology subjects. Comic media are considered effective enough to be used as learning media, because comics have images and colors that can attract students' attention. The plot of the comic is also designed to be as attractive as possible so students want to read it to the end. The type of research used is research and development (R&D). This type of research is the type of development or produces a product and see the effectiveness of the product being developed. Product trials were conducted using Bord And Gall's development model in SMA N 1 Payakumbuh in class XI with 36 students, where researchers gave tests to students before and after using comics, then researchers gave questionnaires. And for product validation carried out by 2 experts, from the research results obtained data on media validity with an average of 4.10 with a validity of 82% which means "very practical". For the validity of the material obtained an average of 4.5 with a validity value of 90% which has "very good" criteria. Whereas the media practicality got an average of 4.65. Finally, to test the effectiveness of the media, it is obtained the comparison of tcount> ttable, which means that the comic media is effectively used as a learning medium to improve students' understanding of sociology subjects.
