Titanium alloy is a highly specific strength material, having excellent mechanical characteristics such as high stiffness, fracture resistance, and hardness at high temperature, so it is applied to various fields such as automotive, aerospace and bioindustry. Yet, the excellent characteristics of titanium alloy generate high cutting heat in cutting process, stimulating tool wear and degrading process accuracy. This study looked into turning characteristics of Ti-6Al-4V alloy using super light, coated carbide and cermet tool and applied Taguchi method to identify factors affecting turning process. In the process of titanium alloy, the major cause of tool wear was adhesion of the chip by cutting heat at a high temperature, and to enhance tool life, cutting speed control is necessary. Factors affecting tool life were in the order of tool material, cutting speed and feed rate.
Demagnetizer has been used in the field of non-destructive test or processing as a tool for removing residual magnetic created on the surface of processed object. In case of residual magnetic left on the part, metal particles around them adhere with each other causing the destruction or abrasion on the part. This study is to develop automatic demagnetizing system for improving the quality of processed items by designing the residual magnetic measuring system, demagnetizing system, and total system to detect magnetic that is derived on parts in the middle of processing in application to bearing process. For this, control system, measuring system, and HMI program that managed them were developed making it feasible to expect the application of them on various automatic processing.
This study has developed street lamp lighting device material that was turned on and off by self-power supply without additional power by using the rays of the sun. Lighting devices have been applied with polycarbonate materials that were outstanding with light transmissivity while using LED light and economic value. Lighting devices are easily installed in various places since external power is not necessary. In addition, it also serves as a function of preventing crime by acquiring intensity of illumination in crime-ridden district in the night. Lighting device can also serve as a function of improving fine view in the city by establishing eco-friendly circumstances including parks, areas around shopping district, and housing areas after being manufactured in the form of flowerpot where can grow plants in the future.
Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic has been applied in various industrial areas due to outstanding mechanic characteristics including high strength and hardness as well as light-weight. For the mechanic combination after the CFRP molding, hall processing is required. In this study, generally used carbide drill and TiAIN coating carbide drill were used to proceed the experiment. Afterwards, carbide drill where point angle was changed into 90° was manufactured while evaluating thrust force and tool wear. In the experiment of carbide drill and TiAIN coating carbide drill, thrust force was reduced when major axis rotating speed increased. However, it was not much influenced by changes in moving speed. In addition, TiAIN coating has not much influenced on the processing feature. Tools with point angle changed into were measured 90° with lower tool wear and thrust force compared to two other tools while obtaining outstanding tool performance.
