Potassium superoxide (KO 2 ) particles as the main air revitalization component were prepared by electrohydrodynamic (EHD), spray drying, and drum drying methods. Morphology and crystallinity of the prepared samples were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques. The results indicate that all obtained samples crystallized in tetragonal form and the ones obtained by the EHD method have the most uniform and higher degree of crystallinity. An accelerating aging technique was employed to determine the decomposition kinetic parameters (activation energy Ea, pre-exponential factor A, and decomposition reaction model) and chemical lifetime of the obtained particles. KO 2 particles obtained by the EHD method showed the highest stability and shelf-life of all investigated samples.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
