The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between exposure to domestic abuse in childhood and after marriage and female criminality in terms of the type of abuse and the type of crime committed, and to determine the level of impact. Method: The study is a cross-sectional applied study. There are 384 convicted and prisoner women in Sivas "Women's Open Penitentiary Institution" and 163 of them voluntarily participated in the study. A questionnaire consisting of 67 questions was used to obtain the data. Results: The results of multiple regression analysis showed that exposure to childhood and post-marriage abuse had an effect on crimes against life and honor, and abuse only after marriage, excluding childhood, had an impact on crimes against property. In terms of the type of abuse, exposure to sexual abuse is the common independent variable that has an effect on all three types of crime. Conclusion: Domestic abuse in childhood or after marriage is one of the factors that partially affect the reasons for committing crimes, the types of crimes committed by women and the way they commit these crimes.
