Abstract. Studying abroad is an experience which can benefit both students' original and host countries. The Afghan government in their quest to improve the human capital have decided to send their students to pursue their studies abroad. It is hoped that these students not only succeed in their academic endeavor but also to learn from the context of cultural and social experience of others, of the technological and globalising world; and bring the rich experience home to help develop the country. The research uses the U-Curve model of intercultural adjustment (Lysgaard, 1955) as the foundation which describes adaptation as a process that moves from a "honeymoon" period into "culture shock" and on to recovery or "adjustment" and "mastery" stages. It looks at the experiences of Afghan students in their adaptation process. Data were obtained from three focus groups discussion done at three different public universities in Malaysia that enrolled the Afghan students. Studies showed that though students went through a bit of culture shock earlier, they are able to adapt in the end which is similar as to the stages discussed in the model.
Social media tools for communication, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube, have become important with the development of information and communication technology. In the field of higher education, university students are increasingly using social media to study and live. Consequently, university students and social media use have become a research topic of practical significance. Scholars in Malaysia have investigated this issue, and the results abound. However, few scholars have reviewed the research results of social media use among university students in Malaysia. By using the literature research method, this study reviews the latest research findings on social media use among students, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. This study summarizes the collected literature into three themes: first, the relationship between social media use and academic performance of university students; second, the social media addiction of university students; and third, the relationship between social media use and mental health of university students. Simultaneously, this study presents the ways of thinking and contributions of scholars to address the aforementioned issues. Finally, this study critically examines the research limitations and blind spots, as they need further exploration by scholars and can serve as innovative points of this topic.
Isu remaja dan penggunaan media sosial kini menjadi suatu aspek penting yang perlu dikaji kerana ia merupakan medium komunikasi yang digunakan oleh golongan muda masakini untuk mengakses maklumat dengan mudah dan pantas. Walau bagaimanapun, penggunaan media sosial yang belebihan dan tidak terkawal boleh menyebabkan berlakunya masalah sosial dan implikasi negatif terhadap remaja khasnya mereka yang berada dalam kumpulan B40. Maka, tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk (1) mengukur tahap penggunaan media sosial dan (2) mengenalpasti faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penggunaan media sosial khususnya remaja B40 yang menetap di perumahan rakyat (PPR). Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan dalam kajian ini dengan melibatkan survei ke atas 244 orang remaja yang tinggal di perumahan Rakyat Desa Rejang, Pantai Ria dan Seri Pantai. Hasil analisis regresi mendapati bahawa faktor-faktor seperti tingkah laku prososial, keselamatan persekitaran perumahan, kesihatan seksual dan semangat perpaduan perlu dipertingkatkan dengan mengadakan program yang dapat mengalakkan penggunaan media sosial dalam kalangan remaja di PPR. Selain itu, kajian ini menunjukkan golongan remaja B40 yang tinggal dikawasan PPR ini masih berada di tahap sederhana. Melalui hasil kajian ini juga, empat aspek utama iaitu peningkatan kesihatan diri, meningkatkan hubungan kejiranan, mengukuhkan tingkah laku prososial dan memperkasakan semangat perpaduan berupaya melonjakkan semangat perpaduan dalam kalangan remaja. Hasil kajian ini boleh memberikan implikasi positif khususnya kepada pihak berkepentingan seperti Kementerian Komunikasi dan Multimedia dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan tahap penggunaan media sosial secara positif khusus untuk remaja B40 yang tinggal di PPR.
With the increased prevalence of social media usage, Malaysian female consumers hugely rely on reviews and information on TikTok. This application's popularity is enhancing, making it a critical technique for many businesses to grow and reach the target audience. For this reason, their purchase intention also depends on the knowledge received through TikTok about any product in the form of advertisements, reviews, etc. The present study has applied a quantitative research design to investigate the phenomenon. Female consumers in Malaysia were approached for data collection. 500 questionnaires were distributed among them, out of which 432 were received as complete and adequate response sheets. Data were analyzed through SPSS and AMOS. Results indicated a significant association between NAV and IS, IS and PI, and PI and AP. The research holds numerous theoretical and practical significance as it extends the literature related to the technological impact on purchase intentions and the growth of businesses. The practical insights of the study lie in the information it conveys to Malaysian marketing or advertising agencies to divert their focus from traditional mediums of promotion towards TikTok advertisements and influencer marketing.

Untuk itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami punca dan kesan kemerosotan trend sirkulasi dan perbelanjaan iklan, dan bagi menjawab persoalan ini, kajian ini telah menggunakan dua metodologi kajian iaitu analisis kandungan terhadap trend sirkulasi dan trend perbelanjaan iklan serta temu bual mendalam bersama Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Institut Akhbar Malaysia (MPI) Datuk Dr Chamil Wariya. Kajian ini menggunakan Model The Three Legs of A Stool oleh Daly, Henry dan Ryder (1997) sebagai panduan kajian. Hasil kajian mendapati kemerosotan ini bukan sahaja berpunca daripada faktor persekitaran luaran yang sukar dikawal seperti perkembangan teknologi komunikasi, ekonomi mahupun politik sesebuah negara, tetapi turut dipengaruhi faktor dalaman akhbar dan syarikat akhbar yang secara tidak langsung telah membentuk persepsi pembaca dan pengiklan terhadap kredibiliti serta kualiti yang dimiliki sesebuah akhbar. Kajian ini diharap dapat membantu pemain industri akhbar untuk merangka strategi baharu dalam memperkasa peranan dan kewujudannya agar sentiasa relevan dan mampu memenuhi ekspektasi pembaca dan juga pengiklan.
