Linezolid therapy is known to cause black hairy tongue, which is benign and reversible. A 65‐year‐old diabetic male was on treatment for diabetic nonhealing ulcer involving right foot and sole for the past 6 months. Linezolid was started based on the culture and sensitivity of the pus. Patient developed thrombocytopenia and black hairy tongue after 7 days of the drug regimen. Drug was stopped and patient was advised to maintain good oral hygiene, soft tooth brush for brushing and regular mouth wash with lukewarm water. The black hairy tongue completely resolved within a week after stopping the drug. The taste and foreign body sensation on the tongue while swallowing were also improved. The diabetic wound was treated by starting vancomycin after giving a surgical wound debridement by a general surgeon.
In this paper, a new concept called Trident Fuzzy Aggregation Operators in which the operation is made by the grouping of numerous Trapezoidal Trident Fuzzy Numbers (TTriFN) to become a solitary trapezoidal trident fuzzy numeral for parallel computing application is introduced. This proposed operator in computing architecture is applicable in the development of fuzzy networking and ranking concepts. Also, the geometric mean over ‘n’ TTriFN on the left-side apex-base angles and right-side apex-base angles are introduced in the architecture development process.
Aim and Background: In the present study was to find out the prevalence of tobacco consumption and factors contributed for tobacco consumption among males aged 15 years and above in Kanchipuram town. Human beings have been using tobacco since 600 A.D. It was introduced in Europe by Columbus who came to know about it from the Caribbeans during his historical journeys. It was introduced in India by the Portuguese. Materials and Methods: This is Community based cross sectional study was conducted in Kanchipuram town. All the study subjects were explained in detail about the purpose and methodology of the study and were fully assured of strict confidentiality. Informed oral consent was obtained. Personal interview questionnaire is administered and obtained the demographic details and tobacco consumption. Kanchipuram district has been divided into 4 revenue divisions comprising of 11 taluks with 1137 revenue villages. For development reasons, it is divided into 13 development blocks with 648 Village Panchayats. Results: The present study showed a high prevalence of 55.4% tobacco use among male ever users aged 15 years and above in Kanchipuram town. A prevalence of 34% has been noted in male current users of the same age group. Conclusion: In the Present study we conclude that the high prevalence of use of tobacco among males age 15-and above is a major and public health problems. This affects the coming generation also. Hence steps need to be taken right now to tackle this problem.
Background: Pluchea lanceolata belongs to the genus Pluchea (family: Asteraceae). The medicinal herb has been used for various ailments to prevent joint swelling in arthritic disorders, rheumatism, and other neurological-inflammatory disorders. Pluchine, which in our review was found to be a compound from P. Lanceolata, is explored for possible pharmacokinetic and toxicological properties by in silico computational predictive tools. Aims and Objectives: The aim of the study is to profile the pharmacokinetic, toxicological, and drug likeness scores of pluchine’s active principle using computational analysis and prediction tools. Materials and Methods: The authenticated and validated chemical structure of pluchine with its chemical formula will be extracted from standard web-based tools PubChem and ChemSpider. The two-dimensional to three-dimensional (3D) structure conversion will be processed with ChemSketchonline software; the 3D structure output will be processed further to be screened for molecular and pharmacokinetic properties for absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination, followed by toxicity profiling through AdmetSAR software. Results: Pluchine active principle from P. lanceolata had a predictive pharmacokinetic profile of human intestinal absorption of <30%, Human skin permeability coefficients (log k p) of pluchine were −6.75 cm/s, and the blood–brain barrier were predicted to be positive with a probability score of 0.65. Drug likeness lipinskiscore is positive with -0- violations. Acute oral toxicity testing for pluchine predicts it to be placed in category III with LD50 values >500 mg/kg but <5000 mg/kg. Conclusion: The pluchineactive principle from P. lanceolata is predicted to have a favorable pharmacokinetic and drug-like property profile for lead compound development.
