Typhoid fever is a systemic infection caused by Salmonella typhi, which remains a serious problem in developing country. The traditional Vaidya belonging to various tribes are using folk medicine to prevent and cure the various diseases including Typhoid. The herbs used for Typhoid from various national-international journals and discussed. Most of the mentioned herbs have Katu-Tikta Rasa, Krimighna and Jvaragna property which help to displace or kill the microbe by Prakriti Vighat by decreasing Kapha and Malas on which these microorganisms lodges, flourish, grows and increase in numbers, thus leading to disease. Most of the mentioned folk herbs used for Typhoid have significant result in vitro and in vivo antimicrobial activity as well as clinical efficacy and also justified the concept of Ayurveda. Hence it can be stated that Typhoid can be treated by giving herbal drug which is already in use by traditional Vaidya and tribes in India, though there is further need of documentation for experimental and clinical study.
In this world, there are so many old and new emerging diseases, which have insufficient management. Ayurveda is an ancient science, which gives basic philosophy of diagnosis, prevention, and management of any disease. Ayurveda also suppose that there is no need to nomenclature of diseases for treatment, but the diseases can be cure by knowing the nidan, dosha, and dushya vikrati. Thus, Ayurveda is able to manage any new challenges in health. The aim of this study was to collect, elaborate, evaluate, and discussed the medicinal properties of Manjishtha along with therapeutic indications. The text book of Ayurveda, its commentaries and text book of modern medicine has been reviewed thoroughly along with index medicinal journal. Manjishtha is the magic drug, which is described in all the textbook of Ayurvedic science including Brihattrayi, Laghuttrayi, and Nighantues. The description of the Manjishtha for its Ayurvedic yogas and its therapeutic utilization are varied and described to cure various diseases. Manjishtha has blood purifying property; it gives best results in the various skin diseases. Current laboratory research proves that it is best for acne vulgaris. As Manjishtha have varnya in property, it enhances the glow of the face. Though none of the text has mentined about the anti-mutagenic activity of Manjishtha, the current laboratory and experimental research shows that it gives significant result in cancer. However, there is need to further investigation along with clinical research. The Manjishtha however is very effective in the patient of acne vulgaris along with other skin diseases. As it has anti-mutagenic property and it may be a promising drug for cancer in future howeverthere is need for further research.
In Ayurveda infectious diseases and their epidemics have been discussed under the heading of Aupsargic Vyadhi and Janpadodhvans respectively. Abundant of herbal, mineral and herbomineral preparations have been found in Ayurveda which have been continuously used for infectious disease by Ayurvedic practitioner. Anand Bhairav Ras is one of them. Anand Bhairav Ras (ABR) contains pure Hingula, pure Vatsnabh, Tankan, Marich and Pipali in equal part. Most of the ingredient are having Katu, Tikt Ras, Ushna Virya in property which is helpful to inhibit the growth of microorganism within living system by reducing the Kleda (wetness). Review of index Journals for antimicrobial properties of ingredients of ABR show that they are more sensitive to bacteria especially enterogenic pathogen. Hence ABR can be used in infectious disease especially caused by enterogenic pathogen in therapeutic dose. In this article we tried to highlight, evaluate and discussed the antimicrobial properties and sensitivity of ABR and its ingredients.
The global cancer burden has been rising day by day due to increase the incidence of high-risk factors for cancer. Chronic alcoholism, tobacco chewing, tobacco smoking, unhealthy diet patterns, unbalanced hormones, obesity, excessive exposure of radiation and sunlight, carcinogenic environmental substance and food additives, chronic inflammation, immunosuppression, infectious agents and advanced age these are some high-risk factors for cancer. Since prevention is better than cure, several preventative measures have been implemented to help prevent cancer. Quitting smoking, avoiding excessive body fat and engaging in regular physical activity are the most prevalent factors that minimize cancer risk. Yogasana (yogic poses), Pranayam (yogic breathing techniques) and Yoga Nidra, which have been practiced in India since ancient times, have played a significant role in cancer prevention. Yogic Prayer, Shodhana Kriyas (yogic cleansing techniques) like Jalaneti (nasal cleansing yogic practice), Kapalbhati, Yogic Sukshma Vyayama, Yogasana like Tadasana (mountain pose), Katichakrasana (standing spinal twist), Vajrasana (thunderbolt pose), Ardha Ushtrasana (half camel pose), Shashankasana (the hare pose), Bhujangasana (cobra pose), Balasana (child pose), Supta Baddha Konasana (reclining bound angle pose) and Shavasana (corpse pose), Pranayam like Nadishodhana (alternate nostril breathing), Bhramari (bumblebee breathing), Dhyan (Meditation) like Yoga Nidra should be beneficial to prevent the cancer and preventive 2
