We demonstrate the first multicore multimode fiber (MC‐MMF) for passive optical network, efficiently utilizing the space division multiplexing to reduce the upstream traffic losses by eliminating the need of multiple feeder fibers. From the simulation results, the error‐free performance is achieved for upstream transmission over 18 modes of MC‐MMF. The differential group delay per unit length of fiber is also analyzed at different modes of MC‐MMF with attenuation per unit length of fiber, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
