Purpose of study: Political discourse causes a large attendance, due to their influence on economic, cultural and societal. The current study investigates 80 political articles in Eastern and Western online news by applied transitivity analysis under the systemic functional study by (Halliday and Matthiessen, 2014). Methodology: The study employs qualitative analysis the systemic functional linguistics with Critical discourse analysis to find out the answers for the next two questions: First, How the transitivity process recognizes the experiential meaning in the social actor's discourse in the Western and Eastern online news? Second, what are the differences or similarities in the social actor's discourse in Eastern and Western online news? The documentation method uses to collect data from the two online newspapers, from Eastern (Al JAZEERA) and from Western news (THE GUARDIAN) from 6th December 2017 to 13th May 2018. Main Findings: The main findings show that verbal processes, is most predominant in social actors discourse in Eastern especially Turkish’s president mostly used the processes and in Western France president mostly used transitivity processes in online news and followed by relational, and mental. Implications/Applications: On the basis of the study, can be better to understand the thinking manner and cultural features and the attitudes and judgments of the political in East and West. Originality/Novelty of Study: Many Researchers like Naz, Alvi, and Baseer (2012), Farhat (2016) and Xiaowan (2018) utilized transitivity processes to study political discourse. The researcher can’t find any study employs Transitivity processes to investigate the political articles in Eastern and Western online news consider Trump’s decision after declared Jerusalem as Israel capital on 6th December 2017.
Purpose of study: This study tries to figure out whether Adrienne Kennedy’s play “Funnyhouse of a Negro” was direct and clear or indirect and implicit when she expresses a black woman’s struggle with identity. Methodology: This study adopts a mix mode approach of Martin and white (2005) attitudinal category of Appraisal theory so as to analyze, frame, and to answer the research questions by which is proposed for this full research paper. Main Findings: The inscribed instances have exceeded the invoked ones in the whole corpus of “Funnyhouse of a Negro”, concerning how did Sarah; the protagonist, as well as her split figures, have portrayed her white mother and a black father. The outcomes suggest that Kennedy was very clear and direct to deliver her moral judgment to her audiences/readers regarding the status of African American women in American based on analyzing the discourses of the main characters in the play. Implications/Applications: Therefore, this play has gained very much respect and admiration from critics, readers, and audiences because of the playwright’s direct descriptions of Sarah and her parents in the American arena as well as her attempt to form new status as an individual human being who have a right to live such as any white American civilian. Originality/Novelty of Study: The appraisal approach is a fairly new extension in the area of Systemic Functional Linguistics. It has been applied mainly to non-fictional discourse, particularly to certain texts with an argumentative task such as journalistic and political speeches. There is an increasing interest in the utilization of this theory to the analysis of literary texts, involving narrative fiction (Alsanafi&Mohd Noor, 2019). The researcher does not find any study employs Appraisal category to discover the clearness of expressions to describe woman’s oppression in Adriane Kennedy’s “Funnyhouse of a Negro”.
Using e-Learning among Teacher Graduate Programme (TGP) to students who are newly exposed in Teaching and Learning (T&L) proses. The major problem among student’s TGP is the readiness level in knowledge, attitude and skills using e-Learning during Teaching and Learning (T&L) . This study is to identify any significant differences of the knowledge level between male and female TGP students. The design of this study is to survey research using instruments of questionnaire which are distributed to respondents among TGP students at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational, UTHM. The sample is given to 248 respondents and analysis using version SPSS 21.0. Data presented using descriptive method such as, Mean, Standard Deviation(SD), inferens statistic using Mann-Whitney U to identify the knowledge difference between male and female TGP students. The result showed that the level of application of e-Learning among TGP students in terms of knowledge, attitude and skill at moderate level. The study also showed that there are no significant knowledge difference among male and female TGP students because the result of p= 0.044 value is less <0.05 can be stated that Ha failed rejected. The results of this study is important to provide awareness especially to the TGP students, lecturers and also UTHM in providing new T&L using e-Learning.
With the demand of culinary arts graduates in hospitality industry, more higher learning institutions especially private colleges offer the programs. The course syllabus of culinary arts is specifically designed to provide a strong foundation for students who aspire to be chefs in the local and international fields. Students are equipped with a basic education in the culinary skills and knowledge associated with the cognitive and psychomotor domain. This study investigates the influence of the cognitive and psychomotor domain effect to private college student’s performance after internship. The internship program is gradually enhancing the students’ knowledge; confidence level and psychomotor performance which enable them to at least gain confidence when performing their practical assessment after coming back from internship. This is a positive indication in the beginning of the students’ life before expose into a real life work situation. Thus, this research can be a guidance for the private institutional lecturers to look into the effectiveness of cognitive and psychomotor domain of culinary art students’ performance in their internship programs.
