Abstract:Waste management is one of the key drivers for the success of the transition towards a circular economy (ADEME, 2012). However, waste management is an increasingly complex issue due to the several dimensions we need to take into account. In this context, EDF is working on the development of a decision support tool. This multicriteria tool will compare waste management facilities based on five dimensions: technical, economic, environmental, territorial and regulatory. To build the comparison criteria, we propose to use and adapt the methodology Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This method allows, via experts' opinions, the aggregation of qualitative and quantitative criteria to compare waste management facilities. This methodology is applied for dredged sediments and should help operational decision-makers to choose a recovery path considering the five previous dimensions. In this article, we propose to apply our approach to compare the waste management paths of the Rhine river sediment management plan (dredged sediments from EDF concession field for hydroelectric production). We evaluate each way with some criteria of our tool.
