The aim of the paper is to assess the activities of students during their studies and their subsequent application, considering active employment instruments as one of the options in the labour market. We perceive the biggest negative fact that the students chose paid work rather than other activities that can also raise funds for them and deepen their knowledge. In the case that a graduate does not find employment, it is possible to claim that the most typical and potentially most usable is the Contribution to self-employment. This research combines a questionnaire survey of the Matej Bel University students and secondary data from the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic.
