We are interested in studying a system coupling the compressible Navier–Stokes equations with an elastic structure located at the boundary of the fluid domain. Initially the fluid domain is rectangular and the beam is located on the upper side of the rectangle. The elastic structure is modeled by an Euler–Bernoulli damped beam equation. We prove the local in time existence of strong solutions for that coupled system.
In this article we consider a control problem of a linear Euler-Bernoulli damped beam equation with potential in dimension one with periodic boundary conditions. We derive a new Carleman estimate for an adjoint of the equation under consideration. Then using a well known duality argument we obtain explicitly the control function which can be used to drive the solution trajectory of the control problem to zero state.
In this article we prove the global existence of weak solutions for a diffuse interface model in a bounded domain (both in 2D and 3D) involving incompressible magnetic fluids with unmatched densities. The model couples the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, gradient flow of the magnetization vector and the Cahn-Hilliard dynamics describing the partial mixing of two fluids. The density of the mixture depends on an order parameter and the modelling (specifically the density dependence) is inspired from Abels, Garcke and Grün 2011.
In this article, we study the strong well-posedness, stability and optimal control of an incompressible magneto-viscoelastic fluid model in two dimensions. The model consists of an incompressible Navier–Stokes equation for the velocity field, an evolution equation for the deformation tensor, and a gradient flow equation for the magnetization vector. First, we prove that the model under consideration posseses a global strong solution in a suitable functional framework. Second, we derive stability estimates with respect to an external magnetic field. Based on the stability estimates we use the external magnetic field as the control to minimize a cost functional of tracking-type. We prove existence of an optimal control and derive first-order necessary optimality conditions. Finally, we consider a second optimal control problem, where the external magnetic field, which represents the control, is generated by a finite number of fixed magnetic field coils.
We consider a compressible fluid structure interaction model in a 2D channel with a simplified expression of the net force acting on the structure appearing at the fluid boundary. Concerning the structure we will consider a damped Euler-Bernoulli beam located on a portion of the boundary. In the present article we establish an observability inequality for the adjoint of the linearized fluid structure interaction problem under consideration which in principle is equivalent with the null controllability of the linearized system. As a corollary of the derived observability inequality we also obtain a unique continuation property for the adjoint problem.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
