Often, in our daily round we hear expressions like „he is not concentrated enough“„he is not focused“, “he is very distracted“, and etc. All these expressions speak about the importance of quality attention, with its two forms – concentration and steadiness. Scientifically, these qualities are established as significant for a number of professions, and the good professional realization of people depends on their level of development. This is the one that motivated us to investigate these qualities with students – future economists from the UNWE and the possibility to establish the level of their development at the beginning of the educational year. We have set the task to compare these qualities between two groups of students – these from the educational groups on basketball from “Physical culture” subject and students from basketball representative team of the university. The average levels of concentration and steadiness of the attention of both aggregates have been investigated and established. The level of development and variability of indices of concentration and steadiness of attention with students has been defined. Values of the variation coefficient define the groups as comparatively homogeneous with both indications, excepting the steadiness of attention with basketball players, whose results for V% define the group as heterogeneous. Statistically reliable differences in the results have not been established on both investigated indications. Specific recommendations have been made for the future work with the educational groups and the representative basketball team of the UNWE, reporting the results got.
Along with acquiring of knowledge in the universities for a certain type of activities, the availability of qualities of each individual is of importance too – motor, psychic and personal. They are in the base for the successful sport career and professional realization. The significance of personal qualities has been established, both for sport and professional career of human being. For the labour activity, they are professionally significant. Such are the volitional qualities and the personal anxiety. We have directed to compare the level of development with students, dealing with basketball, in educational groups of the discipline „Physical education“ and in the representative basketball team at the UNWE, in the beginning of the educational year. As regards the variability with both indices (volitional qualities and personal anxiety), the coefficients of variation define the groups of students as comparatively homogeneous. The average values for both indices define the students as individuals of “strong will”. Statistically, reliable differences with comparison of the results have not been established and with both signs investigated. For establishing the influence of basketball game on these personal characteristics on both aggregates, it is recommended to repeat the study in the end of the educational year.
Physical activity among university students is essential for complementing sedentary behaviour and for individuals' future mental and physical health. At the same time, intellectual qualities like operative, analytic, logical thinking, attention span, short-term memory, long-term memory, etc., are important factors for the successful participation in different academic sports activities. In view of this, it is important to evaluate the initial level of intellectual and physical development by applying a group of specific tests. In this paper, we propose the application of the approach of InterCriteria Analysis (ICrA) to data, obtained from university students practicing sports activities in order to evaluate the appropriateness of the used tests.
In the hasty and strained contemporary life rhythm, requirements to human being become still bigger. It is particularly valid for a number of professions, in which apart from excellent knowledge, required are also various motor, psychic and personal qualities. In our development we focus our attention on the professionally significant motor qualities for the profession engineer in the mining sector. The aim is to investigate the level of development of these qualities with students, educated for the profession at the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski” – Sofia, establishing the homogeneity of educational groups on the subject “Physical education”. It is an important step for future updating of educational programmers in the investigated four sports. From the investigated four professionally significant motor qualities, the results in three of them define the groups as comparatively homogenous – general physical endurance, quickness and flexibility. As for the strength, the four investigated groups are quite heterogeneous. In conclusion, it is recommended to include additional methods in all educational groups per sport type for development of the quality strength.
