Samples of cattle fat, soil and water from the northern Ivory Coast were analyzed for pesticide residues. Organophosphates and pyrethroids were not detected. The fat samples contained residues of dieldrin which often exceeded the maximum WHO residue level. In soil samples from plunge dips for the treatment of cattle against ticks considerable amounts of chlorinated compounds were found which are partially metabolized residues of toxaphene.
