As reaction to risks brought by pollutants, particular attention is given to the development of natural cosmetics with protective role. These new products are created based on innovative active ingredients obtained through advanced processing of native plant species that work by cleaning and removal of polluting impurities and making a protective shield that also stimulates the natural defense mechanisms of skin. The work focuses on harnessing the medicinal plant 'Passion Flower' (Passiflora incarnate), cultivated in ecological conditions for obtaining a liquid extract enriched in active phytochemicals with anti-stress, restorative, invigorating, soothing and purifying properties, for special care of devitalized skin, stress and pollutants abused, or marked by time. The authors have associated the extract of Passionflower with active plant ingredients from fatty oils of milk thistle, hemp, rosehip and sea buckthorn, with concentrated extracts of marshmallow, black currant and licorice and essential lavender oil, to realise an active complex, rich in phytochemical compounds: polyphenols, flavones, flavonoids, anthocyanins, procyanidins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, triterpene saponins, carotenoids and minerals that synergistically act for mutual reinforcing. HOFIGAL Company has created new performing cosmetic formulas with roles of: cleaning and removing of pollutant impurities (cleansing products, shower gels) skin protection by strengthening its 'natural barrier' and natural defense mechanisms (creams, toning emulsions), anti-stress, (creams, gels), maintenance of skin hydration, nutrition and cellular regeneration (lotions, creams).Thereby, five product formulations were developed and efficacy evaluated: Cleansing milk, Cleansing oil for eye contour, Body cream, Protective and hydrating day cream, AntiStress shampoo.
Present study examines, by means of finite element method, the influence of cervical cavity shape on tensions distribution caused by occlusal overload of the teeth with abfraction lesion. Same force values are applied to four 3-D lower premolar finite element models, representing four different cavity shapes. An extracted lower premolar which presented an abfraction lesion has been used. The restoration was achieved by using ER adhesive systems and Giomers. The premolar was scanned and the resulting sections were processed and converted into a 3D digital format. Thus, a model of finite elements which presented a restored wedge-shaped cavity in the cervical dental area was obtained. Then, by modifying the shape and dimensions, there were created another 3 modified-shape cavities. Forces of different magnitudes (45-150N), exerted at a 45 degree angle on buccal cusp, have been applied. A wedge-shaped cavity with a short occlusal side does not show tension in the cervical region, nor in the distal angle of the restoration up to a force of 100N. So, in order to increase the retention of the abfraction restoration, changing the shape of the cavity could be the treatment of choice. Clinical relevance In order to avoid costly and unethical research, by means of FEM, different shapes of cervical cavities were easily created and conditions that influence retention of abfraction restoration were tested.
In this paper, a study on the influence of extraction solvent on the active principles content of purslane - Portulaca oleracea extracts was performed. For the study were used both fresh and dried plants, chopped by plant chopping machine. The following extracts were obtained and analysed in the solvent systems mentioned below: (fresh) purslane extract in Ethanol 30%, (dry) purslane extract in Ethanol 30%; (fresh) purslane extract in EtOH 70%, (dry) purslane extract in EtOH 70%; (fresh) purslane extract in propylene glycol 20%, (dry) purslane extract in propylene glycol 20%; (fresh) purslane extract in PG 100%, (dry) purslane extract in PG 100%; (fresh) purslane extract in glycerine 20%, (dry) purslane extract in glycerine 20%; (fresh) purslane extract in R glycerine, (dry) purslane extract in R glycerine; purslane hydro-alcoholic glycerine extract. The results obtained in the study performed on purslane extracts in different solvents show that the capitalization of purslane can become very profitable and with beneficial effects on economy in our country, both in terms of food and as medicinal plant.
Fatty grass, grasita or purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is an important plant identified as a natural weed in field crops and lawns. Purslane is widespread worldwide and is popular as edible plants in many areas of Europe, Asia and the Mediterranean region. This plant possesses mucilaginous substances of great medicinal importance. It is a rich source of potassium, magnesium and calcium and has the potential to be used as a vegetal source of omega-3 and omega-6. It is very good as a source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and contains the highest amount compared to any other green leafy vegetables. It also contains significant amounts of alpha-tocopherol and ascorbic acid, as well as an increased content of oxalate in fresh leaves. The antioxidant value and nutritional content of purslane are important for human consumption. It reveals a huge nutritional potential and indicates the potential for future use of this plant in food industry, dietary supplements, drugs, cosmetics and products for body care.
