Nigeria universities face numerous challenges, but this paper focuses on just two, which encompass the other challenges. Both the public and private universities in Nigeria face these issues and thus, it is of the essence that they are brought to light and expounded upon. Hence, this paper delves into the issue of good governance and insecurity in Nigerian universities, and it also involves how education or the lack of good university education thereof can result in the aforementioned issues that will later plague universities. This brings about a dangerous cycle that would have no easy fix unless the issues are examined independently and linked subsequently. A brief examination of how these issues affect the progress of university education in Nigeria will be handled in a suitable introduction which will detail the reason why this study is essential and give a brief insight into the topical terms. The introduction will also include some objectives of the topic, which is what the paper intends to achieve in the process of its completion. An insightful look into the topical terms will be given with a follow-up of the relationship between the terms to give a complete understanding of the terms. A suitable literature review on the topical terms will be provided to give backing to the paper discussion, and solutions to the topical issues will be adduced thereafter. An applicable way forward to the topic will be provided to give a reader a practicable step to ensuring positive change as far as the topic is concerned.
Various reforms have been set up by the government at different periods with an aim to increase sustainability in Nigerian universities. These institutional government reforms are instrumental in promoting change and development in the nation’s education sector. The major issue in this respect is that these reforms are rarely carried out fully or are not carried out at all and this results in perpetual turbulence in the nation's education system. As a result, it is essential that an analysis be carried out on this topic to examine the need for these government reforms, the issues associated with trying to implement them effectively and how best they can be implemented. A brief introduction which explains why this paper is necessary will be provided. The associated aims of this study which will shed light on what this topic intends to introduce to the mind of readers will be examined. A suitable literature review detailing the sub levels of this paper’s topic will be explained step by step. The setbacks provided by this paper double as its issues and they highlight the fact that there are both internal and external reasons as to why institutional government reforms are not effectively implemented. This paper suggests how best these issues can be curtailed and these include holding the government accountable for their promises, strict punishment on corruption associated with government reforms, provision of entrepreneurship training by the government etc. This study concludes that in spite of the setbacks faced in carrying out government reforms in Nigerian universities, the parties with the power to instil change need only search for solutions such as the ones discussed in this paper and implement them as necessary. This will cause a major turnaround in the poor reputation of the nation’s education system and as such provide the positive change and development needed by all

Sustainable development goals (SDGs) have become widespread as several countries have embraced them. The aim of this paper is to examine how innovative Nigerian university education can be achieved for sustainable development in Nigeria. Thus, the paper focuses on SDG 9 which is the goal of industry, innovation, and infrastructure. The world today is a digitalised world characterised by digital technology and infrastructure and it is necessary for 21st-century students to keep up with these modern-day digital practices. SDGs have been set up by the United Nations to improve the living standards of the people in the world despite differences in class, religion, economy, race, and other factors that usually cause division between people. These sustainable development goals can be achieved through university education which is known for imparting knowledge, values and discipline to students and shaping them to become future leaders. The roles of Nigerian universities in achieving innovative university education for sustainable development as well as the challenges impeding the advancement of innovative university education in Nigerian universities, were examined to include lack of technological knowledge, inadequate funding, inadequate e-learning, and ICT facilities, amongst others. It was concluded that there is a need for Nigerian universities to develop innovative infrastructure so as to achieve sustainable development in Nigerian universities, as this will enable students to compete with their peers globally. The way forward to these issues would be adequate funding, provision and proper maintenance of e-learning and internet facilities, and proper management of resources, amongst others.
The role of higher education in producing graduates who can transform the nation cannot be overemphasised. As such, one must look for ways to ensure that the higher education received is of good quality and of an enviable standard. One of the means to ensure this is to look within the university administration for organisational effectiveness. The onus then lies on those at the centre of making important decisions for the university to do so using good techniques with the aim of creating the best environment for imparting knowledge and skills to students. To this end, it becomes a necessity to search out means to achieve organisational effectiveness in Nigerian universities. This paper will thus provide an introduction that gives a better understanding of the subject matter in detail of its components. A suitable literature review of the various opinions of scholars on this topic will be examined. The series of challenges militating against the subject matter such as lack of funding, corruption, lack of qualified personnel etc., will be analysed. A conclusion providing a summary of this paper will be made to give a simpler understanding of what the paper truly aimed to reach a reader. A list of applicable suggestions such as prioritising university education and providing counselling for students and staff to enable them to perform at their optimum best will be provided to remedy the challenges with a view of making them applicable to real-life situations.
