036ChemInform Abstract The complexes (III), (V), (VIIIa) and (VIIIb) have been prepared as shown in the scheme. They are essentially diamagnetic and behave as 1:2 electrolytes in MeCN. Their electrochemical properties reveal the existence of an accessible one-electron oxidation and an irreversible one-electron reduction. The anions are believed to have σ2π4δ2δ*2 ground state electronic configurationallowing a free rotation of the OsX4 units about the Os-Os bond. In accord with this expectation, two crystalline forms of (III) have been isolated from CH2Cl2-Et2O solutions, one green, space group P21/c with Z=4, and the other brown, C2/c, Z=4.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
