Extracting a singing voice from its music accompaniment can significantly facilitate certain applications of Music Information Retrieval including singer identification and singing melody extraction. In this paper, we present a hybrid approach for this purpose, which combines properties of the Azimuth Discrimination and Resynthesis (ADRess) method with Independent Component Analysis (ICA). Our proposed approach is developed specifically for the case of singing voice separation from stereophonic recordings. The paper presents the characteristics of the proposed method and details an objective evaluation of its effectiveness.
In the near future, it is expected that mobile cloud computing (MCC) will benefit enterprises by improving network manageability and maintenance, as well as end users with respect to sharing computing resources. For this purpose, this paper proposes self-organized cooperative 5G Radio Access Networks (RANs) with intelligent elastic optical backhauls. Effective joint optical and radio resource management is implemented in order to satisfy the stringent delay requirements of the emerging MCC applications and increase the overall cell throughput. In addition, spatiotemporal data of the cellular network are observed, analyzed, and stored constantly during the operation of the network. These data provide the capability of dynamic adjustment to channel conditions, as well as effective structuring of the RANs. The proposed techniques increase the Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SINR), and enable future networks to meet the demands of MCC, as they are able to handle a large number of small packets in an efficient manner. ?? 2013 IEEE
Due to the large number of wireless cells that are required for accurately evaluating inter-site interference in cellular networks, computational resources often pose a considerable limitation. In this paper, a novel method for modeling interference at the edges of the region of interest (ROI) of the cellular topology is proposed. While it shares conceptual ground with previous wrap-around techniques, the proposed method can still be applied over existing solutions without distorting their topology, as conventional toroid shaping is not required. Thus, it allows platforms to retain forward compatibility with network planning tools. System level simulations of a one-tier long term evolution (LTE) network have clearly demonstrated uniform interference across the ROI while achieving an almost three-fold increase in computational efficiency over existing platforms. ?? 2013 IEEE
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
