The meaning of Islamic architecture in the midst of Muslim society still leads to the typology of forms, ornamentations and certain styles without an understanding of Islamic values that should be present in the design process. These problems have become the researcher's anxiety to further analyze what and how the application of Islamic architectural principles in a Perjalanan Matahari spatial planing in Pabelan IslamicBoarding School, Mungkid sub-district, Magelang, Central Java. By using qualitative methods, as well as the application of 8 principles of Islamic architecture that were discussed by Nangkula Utaberta, this paper aims to see the application of Islamic architectural principles through religious sources directly through the interpretation of Islamic art from Seyyed Hossein Nasr and the interpretation of the Qur'an from Buya Hamka and hadith. Related data obtained through interviews, literature studies and observations which are then classified, processed and tested, so that the data obtained is relevant and can be justified. Perjalanan Matahari is a work of Islamic architecture that was born from the understanding of Kiai Hamam Dja'far about Islam through Islamic sources, namely the Qur'an and the Hadith. These findings are proven by the verses of the Qur'an embedded in the description of the Perjalanan Matahari spatial layout and are appropriate if applied in the 8 principles of categorizing Islamic Architecture. The various constituent elements show a complicated composition but can be integrated. Perjalanan Matahari in the Pabelan Islamic Boarding School can be interpreted as a work of Islamic architecture because it is manifested by the integration of the spatial model of the Perjalanan Matahari as a depiction of human life, which is not only limited to physical design without content, but a spatial model that was born from an understanding of Islamic values sourced from the Qur'an and the Hadith.
This study aims to understand the myth of the Goddess Mazu in Lasem City, Central Java. The research was conducted by observing the interior space at Cu An Kiong (CAK), the oldest temple in Lasem City. This study uses a verbal communication approach from Rapoport (1982) and a cultural approach from Koentjaraningrat (2015) to explore human relations with their environment and explain phenomena that exist in the research object. The research found that there is an exaltation space in this Mazu temple; this space is placed on the axis of space and time, it is to see the meaning of the space that has been built is practiced by the whole community, both the Chinese and the Javanese ethnicities, in a continuous flow of time from the first time the temple was built until now, as well as providing an interpretation of the phenomenon which are actually happened in Lasem. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the exaltation space shows the mythical practice of the Goddess Mazu by the local community, both Chinese and Javanese ethnicities. The mythology of Goddess Mazu, or Mak Co, is the protector of fishermen, sailorman, and common people in Lasem.
Situasi pandemi covid-19 belum diketahui kapan akan berakhir, saat ini ia menjadi permasalahan yang luar biasa berat bagi kehidupan umat manusia di dunia. Dan selain pademi covid-19 masih banyak permasalahan lain yang perlu diperhatikan oleh kita semua seperti kerusakan lingkungan, revolusi industri 4.0 dan AI-nya, masalah pendidikan serta problem kesehatan masyarakat pada umumnya. Apa yang tersebut di atas tampaknya bukan permasalahan sederhana, tetapi permasalahan yang kompleks dan mengandung banyak aspek (perilaku, sosial dan budaya). Seorang Viktor Margolin pernah mengatakan bahwa untuk saat ini model sosial desain lebih dibutuhkan dari pada desain “produk” pada umumnya. Makalah ini membahas, salah satu pendekatan desain bermatra sosial yaitu desain transformatif (transformative design) dan kemudian menyandingkannya dengan salah satu kasus inovasi sosial yang hadir di kota Yogyakarta, Bendungan Lepen Gajah Wong. Pada masa sekarang permasalahan desain yang dihadapi masyarakat Indonesia semakin kompleks dan multi aspek, dari pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa desain bermatra sosial dapat menjadi salah satu metode untuk mengatasinya.
Pada saat ini permasalahan lingkungan hidup menjadi semakin kritis. Banyak upaya yang telah dilakukan namun hasilnya belum memuaskan, justru situasi menjadi kian buruk. Partisipasi banyak pihak masih dibutuhkan khususnya bidang desain. Riset ini menawarkan gagasan desain local berkelanjutan yang dapat ditumbuhkan dengan sinergi antara ekoliterasi dan kearifan local. Diyakini bahwa gagasan ini dapat menghasilkan desain yang ramah lingkungan dan beridentitas local yang kuat, serta mampu mensejahterakan masyarakat. Riset ini bersifat kwalitatif dan focus pada studi pustaka, mendialogkan konsep dan variable yang ditemukan, selanjutnya menyusunya ke dalam konstruk pemikiran. Temuan riset ini mengatakan bahwa gagasan desain local berkelanjutan dapat terwujud bila literasi ekologi dan kearifan local dapat dinternalisasikan dalam mode keterhubungan dengan alam dan lingkungan sekitar dan kemudian dipraktikan secara nyata oleh para penggubah dunia buatan manusia.
