Empirical evidences indicate that if institutions of higher education are to survive and achieve long-run viability, they must be effective. Organizational innovativeness is viewed as an important factor for improving the organizational effectiveness in these organizations. The aim of this study was to examine the correlations between organizational innovativeness types and organizational effectiveness. The method used in the study was survey research. Based on cluster sampling method, 485 full time faculty members from Islamic Azad University, Iran, were selected as the respondents of the study. Two questionnaires were developed according to an extensive review of literature for measuring organizational innovativeness types and organizational effectiveness. The results indicated that both technical and administrative innovations positively and significantly predicted organizational effectiveness. Therefore, universities must implement administrative and technical innovations to improve organizational effectiveness. However, each type of innovativeness affects different aspects of organizational performance.
Entrepreneurship education has traditionally focused on formal education, but many initiatives have been taken parallel with the 21 st century teaching and learning strategies to engage student experience through learning by doing. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of entrepreneurship education on students' entrepreneurship interest, intentions and competencies by implementing fashion entrepreneurship program. This study was held at Universiti Putra Malaysia for a period of five months. Samples were selected among undergraduate students who enrolled in Entrepreneurship Courses in First Semester 2016/2017. Screening process comprises interviews and basic sewing test were conducted to select 40 students as the respondents of the program. This program emphasized mentor-mentees system which involved 10 fashion entrepreneurs from the community. Respondents were exposed to entrepreneurship seminars, business and skills trainings, e-marketing workshops, sewing classes as well as evaluation sessions. Qualitative data were gathered through questionnaires adapted from Mc Clellandand Mc Ber & Co (1985) as well as questionnaires by Hisyamudin Hassan (2007). Meanwhile qualitative data were collected through continuous observations and the output of the fashion products. The findings indicated that there is a significant positive correlation between entrepreneurship interests with entrepreneurship intentions. Although the findings showed no significant relationship between fashion entrepreneurship program with entrepreneurship intentions and competencies, respondents' perceptions towards their interest, intentions and competencies at the end of the program are high. Due to time constraints, it was suggested that future entrepreneurship program should be scheduled more structured and in a timely manner to ensure that student can gain benefit throughout the program and the objective of the program can be achieved.
Malaysia is committed to achieving sustainable growth along with fair and equitable distribution across income groups, ethnicities, regions, and supply chains. The commitment aims to enhance the nation's prosperity and be prepared with a sufficient skilled and semiskilled workforce. However, there is a lack of proficiency and sensitivity of the technical and vocational graduates for the various career-enhancing programs organized by the government. The graduates do not have clear action plans and strategies to meet the needs of the industrial market. In addition, there is a concern from the industries about the graduates' job skills to succeed in their careers. Therefore, this study aimed to explore career decisions and the level of employability skills based on gender, academic achievement, and career exposure among engineering students in vocational colleges in Selangor, Malaysia. The researcher used a survey design and quantitative approach for this research. Respondents for this study are the first and second year of engineering students in Selangor vocational colleges. The findings show that the level of career decision and employability skills are at a moderate high level for most demographic groups. This study also serves as a reference to stakeholders to identify students' career decisions and employability skills in vocational colleges. Administrators and educators are recommended to play an active role in integrating career information and guidance in the learning process efficiently in order to improve students' career decisions and employability skills.
School culture and climate are two uncertain aspects of the management and administration of schools in a VUCA world. This study was conducted to examine the influence of factors in the school culture and climate for the school effectiveness of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) in Malaysia. This research involved a total of 312 teachers from 82 SJKT schools in Peninsular Malaysia. Data were collected by strata using the School Culture Survey, School Climate Instrument and School Effectiveness Instrument. The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis show that the School Culture Regression Model P5 (unity of purpose, collaborative leadership, learning partnership, professional development, and teacher's collaboration) contributed for 65.0% (R 2 =.644) changes in variance in school effectiveness [F(5,306)=113.609, p<0.5]. The school climate regression model P4 (leadership, environment, instruction, and collaborations) contributed 67.8% (R 2 =.673) of the variance in school effectiveness [F(4,307)=161.265, p<0.5]. The combination of school culture (β=.542, p<0.5) and school climate (β=.317, p<0.5) significantly contributed 66.8% (R 2 =.666) of the variance change [F(2,309)=310.731, p<0.5]. The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that school Culture influence (β=.542, p<.05) higher than school climate (β=.317, p<.05). This model contributes to predicting the impact of school culture and climate on school effectiveness.
