Indian higher education institutions (HEIs) are struggling hard to get a berth among top-rated HEIs in the world. One of the important parameters that restrict our HEIs from the list of top-notch global HEIs is ‘contribution to research’. It does not mean that Indian HEIs don’t have quality researchers to produce world class research output. Had that been the case, Indian researchers doing research abroad would not have done miracles with their unique research output in varied domains. The hindrance for researchers in India could be owing to improper communication facility that fails to exchange ideas and outcomes of research among peers. Thus, the urge for formation of sound institutional electronic repositories, i.e., electronic research corners (e-research corners) has crop up. Mere formation of e-research corners won’t suffice to address the issue. Besides formation, e-research corners need to be open accessed. University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has established an Inter-University Center called Information and Library Network Center (Inflibnet), which is the best example of open access institutional repositories. While some HEIs of India do have their research corners that are accessed by only the internal stakeholders, some other HEIs don’t have any such repositories as such. On the backdrop of the necessity of formation and open access of institutional electronic repositories, this paper focuses on unfolding how open access to sound e-research corners promote quality education. Besides, it will also design a framework that will assist the HEIs to build sound e-research centers. For the purpose, in-depth interviews will be conducted with 50 researchers working in reputed HEIs in Bhubaneswar to ascertain how open access e-research centers facilitate quality research. Focus Group Discussion will also be conducted among experts in the field like research heads of selected HEIs, Chief Librarians of established Libraries and reputed educationists of the State for designing the framework to form e-research centers. The findings of this research will help in communicating ideas and findings of researchers to all the corners that matter for quality research.
India's COVID-19 lockdown has left transgender people at heightened risk of hunger and poverty since most of them make their living on streets by begging, street entertainment, and paid sex. They are not socially privileged to operate within the online world as they are predominantly dependent on social interactions and functions such as weddings or baby showers. Ideology is endangering transgender people from coronavirus. Transgender people are a socially marginalized community who is forced into slums where social distancing is challenging, making it a hotbed for Coronavirus. Further, the absence of healthcare backup and lack of awareness increases the looming fear among the transgender community regarding the budding impact of COVID-19. A substantial rate of economic instability, as well as social discrimination, was visible before the pandemic, thereby worsening their situation with a lack of food, fund, insecurity, safety, and mental health concern during COVID-19. This study focuses on the impact of the Coronavirus crisis on the socioeconomic life of Transgender people taking into account the explosion in unemployment, adding to an already disproportionate healthcare support system pushing them further to the margins. The study comes forward with useful suggestions based on content analysis of published and aired information to reduce the existing woes of transgender people during COVID-19.
In this paper, we derive the feasibility conditions for the robust counterparts of the uncertain Markowitz model. Our study is based on ellipsoidal, box, polyhedral uncertainty sets and also the uncertainty sets obtained from their combinations. We write the uncertain Markowitz problem in a quadratically constrained convex quadratic programming form and the uncertain sets are converted into their quadratic forms for the derivation. The feasibility conditions of robust solutions which we obtained are in the form of positive semi-definite matrices. The study can be useful for deriving the robust counterparts of the combined uncertainties, which in general is difficult to find out.
The objectives of this paper are to highlight the cultural heritage of India, to establish the involvement of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in preserving cultural heritage of India, and to ascertain how use of digital technology can facilitate the functioning of MSMEs in preserving cultural heritage of India and achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly reducing poverty and eliminating hunger. It is basically a descriptive research based on secondary data collected from existing literature and analyzed to highlight how technology intervention in the functioning of MSMEs can preserve cultural heritage of India. It is found that India’s rich cultural heritage can be preserved through digitization. However, considering the changing nature of technology, the preservation process needs to be adaptable to changing technological set up. Keywords: Digitization, Technology, Culture, Heritage, Innovation, Diversity management, e-commerce, MSMEs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
