The aim of this study is to look at the characteristics and socio-economic effects of sugar factories in Turkey in terms of political ecology. Data were gathered by literature review method. Country comparisons were also made. Data covering 1997-2019, were taken mainly from Turkey Sugar Factories Corporation and Beet Producers Cooperative. It consisted of thirty-three sugarbeet factories governed mostly by TurkSugar Corporation. As a result, sugarbeet farming affected many economic sectors and people's lives related to its agriculture and industry. Namely, while 25,174 villages were engaged in sugar beet farming between 1995-2000, this figure decreased
