Measles is known to cause self-limiting illness, mostly in children.Measles is a systemic infection with known complications but information regarding the consequences of liver involvement is limited. Fulminant hepatic failure has been reported rarely in very young children. We present here a case of fulminant hepatitis in a 6-month-old child with measles from central India.
Unilateral lung agenesis is a rare congenital abnormality that typically presents with respiratory distress after birth. Prognostic factors include the side of the lung affected along with the presence or absence of other congenital abnormalities. Prenatal imaging can make the diagnosis which can assist the healthcare team in preparing to care for the neonate, as well as set expectations for the family. In this case series, we describe three cases of unilateral lung agenesis, two infants with right lung agenesis and one with the left. We describe their presentation, provide a brief clinical course, and discuss outcomes.
A subgaleal hematoma is the collection of blood in the subgaleal space of the scalp. This entity is mostly seen in neonates as result of birth trauma. In children, it has been described in both accidental and non-accidental trauma and presents as painful scalp swelling. Subgaleal hematoma, outside the setting of birth or other trauma, is rare. In this report, we describe a case of a massive subgaleal hematoma in a child from non-abusive hair pulling.
