Although the printing offset technique offered the best printout quality among other printing techniques, however, there is a drawback of the offset technique which needs great skill to handle the process, i.e the presence of trace water molecules on the image area of the plate. The water’s existence in the image area leads to the poor covering of ink which makes the blurry printout than it must be. Therefore, we used various concentrations of propylene glycol such as 0%, 0.05%, and 0.1% as wetting agents to prevent the trace water sticks to the image area of the plate. We used the HVS paper 80 g/m2 as printing material and the machine of Oliver Sakurai 472 ED to study the role of propylene glycol. Propylene glycol has been considered based on stronger interaction with water molecules than the interaction of the image area - propylene glycol. By investigating the visual quality, density, and dot gain of the printout, we concluded that the wetting agent content of PG 0.05% (v/v) increased the visual brightness, and density of the printout, compared to the water only as the wetting solution.
Mechanical optimization has been done on the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) homemade. At set-up, angle scanning comes a small resolution to detect changes in the thickness of the thin film or refractive index of the sample. The mechanical drive has a function to rotate the prism and detector. Torsional Spring-Loaded Gear Antibacklash is used to improve the accuracy of the mechanical drive. The stepper motor is used to rotate the mechanical drive automatically. The built system has successfully increased the resolution of the prism rotation angle by 0.01°. The test using the blank prism indicates the angle of Total Internal Reflection occurs at an incident angle of 41.80 °. The SPR phenomenon was observed in a thin layer of gold deposited on the prism using a vacuum evaporator. The observed SPR angles on samples A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I were 45.02°, 45.05°, 46.30°, 44.48°, 44.70°, 45.49°, 45.52°, 45.66°, and 44.44°, respectively. The SPR angle change shows the difference in the thickness of the gold thin film.
Offset ink is a type of ink that has a higher viscosity than other types of ink, so it is called paste ink. The properties produced by the ink depend on the concentration of the auxiliary agent which is adjusted to the characteristics of the substrate. The cyan offset ink formula was determined to be used as a guide in ink making. The method used is the method of observation and laboratory testing. Four kinds of samples were made (T1, T2, T3, T4), then proofed on absorb paper such as art carton, art paper, duplex front, duplex back. The tests carried out include optical density, gloss, rub resistance, drying test, blocking test, and skinning on the table. Based on the results of the tests carried out, the results showed that T4 which
Packaging is one of the aspects that affecting the trust of consumers to a product. As a small enterprise, OkeFarm Neglasari Women Farmer had no packaging expert. The aim of this community service is to provide a good packaging to help them gaining new consumers. The packaging rebranding, developed by market analysist methods and adjusted to the financial ability of the small enterprise. The finalized designs were tested to packaging acceptance test by mean questioner methods. Rebranding resulted 30 new loyal consumers, 25 of them responded to the questioners. 76% of the new consumers were females and 24% of it were males. Most of the new consumers were at age range 31-35 years old (44%) and 26-30 years old (36%). The rebranding effective to attract consumers with income range 3.1-6 million IDR (40%), and 6.1-9 million IDR (24%). The new food packaging brand significantly increased the acceptance of vegetables products.
The packaging is the most important thing for packing the food product. The main function of packaging is protecting the product from external factors such as light, water vapour, oxygen, and humidity. Sometimes the damage of food products occurs because of the contaminations of water vapour like a clumping on powdered food products. However, aluminum foil is a good barrier to protect food products. The packaging barrier needs to be tested to assure which one is the best to protect food products, especially from water vapour. Water vapour transmission rates are used to test how much the vapour can be absorbed by the packaging and the test results can be used as a reference for product packaging. The identification of water vapour transmission absorbed on the aluminum foil is tested using the gravimetric testing method and refers to the ASTM E96 standard. The result shows the thicker aluminum foil has used to protect the food products, the lower they absorb water vapour.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
