This study aimed to assess the potency of forages in Muna Barat Regency as cattle and goat feed. The study was performed by performing forage observation based on the forage production multiplied by the harvested area, and presented on dry matter unit (DM). Sampling was carried out by using a designed square tool. Forages that was evaluated on this study was legume groups. Data analysis was performed by using carrying capacity method. The study reveals that there are 8 types of forages found in Muna Barat Regency. The dry matter of those forages can meet the feed requirement for cattle and goat in Muna Barat Regency. The result of KPRR analysis shows that Muna Barat Regency has carrying capacity for 2,669 cattle and 3,293 goat.
The study aims to utilizing mollases as reducing sugar to bind ammonia from urea through maillard reaction in high temperature as a source of Non-protein nitrogen (NPN) slow release in order to improve the efficiency of NPN and of the avaibility of total protein. The study used mollases and cow rumen fluid from Ungaran slaughterhouses. The method of the study was factorial complate random design with 2x3 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were A0B1 (mollases-urea non heated 1 hour incubation), A0B2 (mollases-urea non heated 3 hour incubation), A0B3 (mollases-urea non heated 5 hour incubation), A1B1 (mollases-urea heated 1 hour incubation), A1B2 (mollases-urea heated 3 hour incubation) and A1B3 (mollases-urea heated 5 hour incubation). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that NH 3 , Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) and total protein production in different hours of incubation were significant (P<0,05), meanwhile production in mollases heat treatment and interaction between them were not significant (P>0,05). The longer the time of incubation, the lower the production. The highest NH 3 production was found at one hour of time of incubation. The VFA and total protein productions increased along with the increasing time of incubation with highest production was found at 5 hours of time of incubation.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan Neutral Detergeni Fibre (NDF), Acid Detergent Fibre (ADF), hemiselulosa, selulosa dan lignin onggok yang difermentasi Trichoderma ressei dengan suplementasi N, S, P. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari T0 (onggok + NSP + T. reesei 1,5% 0 day incubation), T1 (onggok + NSP + T. reesei 1,5% 2 days incubation), T2 (onggok + NSP + T. reesei 1,5% 4 days incubation), T3 (onggok + NSP + T. reesei 1,5% 6 days incubation). Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis of variance (ANOVA), apabila terdapat pernedaan nyata maka dilanjutkan menggunakan uji Duncan. Parameter yang diamati yaitu kandungan NDF, ADF, hemiselulosa, selulosa dan lignin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fermentasi onggok menggunakan Trichoderma reesei dengan suplementasi N, S, P berpengaruh nyata terhadap kandungan NDF, selulosa dan lignin (P<0,05) namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap kandungan ADF dan hemiselulosa (P>0,05).
The aim of this research was to determine the NDF and ADF content of rice straw<br />fermented with several types of microorganism at different temperatures. Rice straw was<br />obtained from rice fields in Ishigaki District, Okinawa, Japan. The types of microbes used<br />were Lactobacillus fermentum, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus coagulant Saccharomyces<br />cerevisiae, and Aspergillus niger. The mainplot was temperature (25, 35, 45°C) and the<br />subplot was microorganism. Each treatment has 3 replications. There were two groups for<br />controls, i.e. the control without molasses and the control with molasses. The rice straw<br />fermented within 3 weeks. The ADF content in all temperature treatments showed that S.<br />cerevisiae and A. niger treatments were higher (P<0.01) than that in other microorganism<br />treatments. Hemicellulose content in S. cerevisiae and A. niger were tend to lower (P<0.01)<br />compare to others microorganism treatments in all temperature treatments. The lowest<br />hemicelluloses content of fermented rice straw are showed by S. cerevisiae and A. niger at<br />45°C. These finding suggested that the ADF content were high in S. cerevisiae and A. niger<br />treatments, but showed decrease in hemicellulose and increase in cellulose and lignin.<br />Key words: rice straw, fermentation, ADF, NDF
Peternak ayam kampung di Kelurahan Labibia Kecamatan Mandonga Kota Kendari belum ada sentuhan teknologi tepatguna dalam meningkatkan produktivitasnya. Peternak masih menggunakan sistem pengeraman alami, sehingga peningkatan produksi ayam menjadi rendah, disisi lainnya adalah produksi telur ayam kampung hanya mencapai 40 butir pertahun yang disebabkan induk ayam masih membutuhkan waktu untuk mengasuh anaknya setelah telur ditetaskan secara alami. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan upaya penerapan teknologi melalui penetasan secara buatan (artificial incubation) dengan mesin tetas yang dapat memberikan manfaat dan memungkinkan tersedianya bibit ayam dalam jumlah yang banyak. Disisi lain penggunaan mesin tetas dapat menekan biaya pembelian DOC, sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan bagi peternak ayam kampung. Pelaksanaan pengabdian Program Bina Desa Fakultas Peternakan UHO diharapkan dapat memberikan solusi atas permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh peternak, yaitu dengan memperkenalkan inovasi teknlogi budidaya ayam kampung melalui pendampingan teknis aplikasi teknologi mesin tetas. Program Bina Desa Fakultas Peternakan UHO dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Labibia Kecamatan Mandonga Kota Kendari. Pelaksanaan program dilakukan dalam bentuk penyuluhan dan bimbingan teknis. Materi penyululuhan meliputi penguatan kelembagaan, konsep dasar inovasi teknologi mesin tetas sederhana dan ekonomis, metode pengoleksian telur tetas dan metode pengoperasian alat mesin tetas. Sedangkan materi pada bimbingan teknis meliputi tehnik pembuatan mesin tetas, tehnik pengoleksian telur tetas dan tehnik pengoperasian alat mesin tetas. Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, hasil yang telah dicapai pada Program Bina Desa di Kelurahan Labibia Kecamatan Mandonga Kota Kendari dengan penerapan inovasi teknologi sederhana melalui bimbingan teknis pembuatan mesin tetas dapat meningkatakan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam pembuatan mesin tetas pada kelompok ternak, serta dapat menekan biaya pembelian DOC sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan peternak
