Indonesia is a country which has a characteristic of cultural diversity. In Indonesia, the facts of plurality can be identified in around 650 local languages, 700 ethnic groups, and five religions. According to the facts, we can declare that Indonesia is a home for plurality. Today the plurality is challenged by exclusivism and primordialism. Recently, in Indonesia, several bombs blasted, and some people have been killed, and others are injured by the bomb. The unity among the people like Moslem and Christian is threatened un-united. This paper tries to offer a model of plurality, taking as an example, the oral tradition of The lego-lego performance which has been successfully cultivated and nurtured by the Alor people in Alor-Pantar island, East Nusa Tenggara. Alor-Painter has 18 local languages, 24 ethnic groups, and three major religions, which is a miniature of diversity in Indonesia. The lyrics of the lego-lego performance express the concepts of run kakang airing 'brotherhood,' and "toramiti tominuku" or "Haki-Haki tifang left Narang" 'unity in diversity.' Both concepts have been inherited through one of the traditions that are the "lego-lego" dance. This paper tries to show the experience to gain a mutual understanding of how to nurture diversity and reveal the inclusive identity of Alor in Indonesia.
The political elite contestation since the the past until now is always interesting to be observed, as we can observe in the Palembang’s manuscripts collection entitled “Tjerita Renggan Sedajoe Anak Radja Kota Aboeng (Orang Ampat Lawang)”, then called TRSARKA. This manuscript shows the political elite contestation in the kingdom of Kota Aboeng Negeri Ampat Lawang, South Sumatra. Contestation among the political elite in the manuscript will be analized with the types of leadership and topos (scenes; repetitive story motives) in the traditional literary work. Colleting data uses the literature review that is sourced from the TRSARKA which is one of the Palembang manuscript collections. The manuscipt belongs to the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia under the script code (Br.157.ixc). By using an analytical descriptive approach, the manuscript of TRSARKA is discussed to find the topos. The results of the topos analysis show that the two models of Traditional Malay leaderships that contradict each other in the TRSARKA, namely trustworthy leadership and betrayal leadership. These two leadership models can be interpreted as features of literary work that always describes the character in black and white. Some topos in the TRSARKA manuscript are royal topoi or a fair and prosperous country, the ideal topoi, betrayal to the king topoi, genealogical topoi, and supernatural power topoi.
