Water is the very basis for the existence of life in earth to the extent that the word life has almost become synonymous to it. But potable water is becoming a scarce resource despite the fact that the overall composition of water is about 70 % of the earth surface as the efforts for salvaging the usable water and using it in a sustainable way is an increasingly troublesome process. Over the years there are several instances of water shortages in various parts of the country, but the most intriguing instance is the water crisis in the Himalayan hill cities despite the fact that it is home to several big glaciers and vast river basins. In the recent years water crisis has been in high proportion in the various Himalayan hill cities. In the Leh district, during the last few years, there are multiple reports of the water shortages during the summer months. There are studies that despite these efforts, the gap between demand and supply of water is likely to double by 2050. Another important aspect is strengthening the governance and planning aspects of local administration for better identification, understanding, adaptation and mitigation efforts. Mountain-specific solutions with consideration for building local knowledge and database for futuristic planning are essential for a better future.
The most important trend of development in agriculture is increasing diversification of rural economy. Contribution of agriculture sector to total GDP of state is 26 Percent. Whereas livestock sector is contributing around 38 percent of Agriculture GDP (at current prices). Today dairy enterprise is practiced by 70 million rural households in India. Milk products generate cash income to farmers almost on daily basis, unlike other crops. Clean milk production by adopting the appropriate practices is urgent need to boost dairy industry and to meet obligations under Food Safety and standard Act, 2006. In Haryana, livestock production is more of women oriented, so their production potential can be enhanced through technical know how and support. Keeping in mind the contribution of women, the present study was undertaken in Hisar district of Haryana. 50 rural women of self help groups of Mangali and Muklan Villages (25 each) were selected purposively who were member of self help group from last one year, having need and interest in dairy farming and having at least two milch animals. A well planned five days training at CCSHAU Hisar, visit to dairy co-operatives, kit of mineral mixture and literature was provided to the participants. Knowledge gap reduction was found highest for paneer preparation 87.81 percent. For all three components, training effectiveness index ranged between 74.28% to 94.66% which shows that trainees perceived the intervention very useful and well covered. Overall training effectiveness index was 80.94 %. Highest perceived feasibility Index was found for Cultural compatibility (97.33%), followed by Physical compatibility practicability (93.33), Low initial cost (90.66%), Trial ability (88.00%) and Visibility of results (86.66%). Lowest perceived feasibility index was found for Cognitive simplicity 54.66 percent.
Academic stress is a mental distress with respect to some anticipated frustration associated with academic failure or even awareness of the possibility of such failure. Selfesteem is that subjective judgment by which people make their potential to face life's challenges to recognize, understand and also solve the problems, and their right to achieving happiness, and be given respect. The study was undertaken in rural and urban area of Haryana state. Hisar district and village Kharkara was taken in order to meet the sample requirement i.e. 50 adolescents from rural area and 50 from urban area thus making a total sample of 100 adolescents ranging in 16-18 years of age group. The scale used for the study was academic stress scale by Rao (2012) used to assess academic stress and self-esteem inventory by Prasad and Thakur (1977). The finding elucidates that maximum number of respondents have moderate level of academic stress and found significant difference in both rural and urban area.Data regards to self-esteem found that maximum respondents have positive level of self-esteem followed by balanced level and self-esteem was significantly and negatively correlated with academic stress.
