The design of optical sensor systems is based on the interaction between the photons of the electromagnetic radiation and suspended particles in water. The objectives of this study area are to design and develop a dwi-detector optical sensor for measuring the concentration of total suspended solids, TSS, in polluted water samples. An algorithm which requires calibration analysis has been derived for estimating TSS concentrations. The proposed optical system uses a single light emitting diode, LED, as an emitter and two phototransistors are used as detectors. Detected radiations were measured at scattering angles of 90 0 and 180 0 between the source and the detectors. The algorithm produced a high correlation coefficient and low root mean square error value.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
