The six days fasting in the month of Syawal is a voluntary fasting after the 30 days of obligatory fasting in the month of Ramadan. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of sixday fasting in the month of Syawal on the changes of personality among Muslims. A total of 111 participants comprised of students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) took part in this study. All participants were Muslims, consisting 91 women and 20 men with age range of 20 years to 53 years old. The analysis method used was multilevel modeling using Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM) version 7.0. The LHM was used to test all the hypotheses of the study. The objective of the study was to identify the impact of the Syawal voluntary fasting on the personality change. The findings of this study showed that the quality of Syawal voluntary fasting gives effect to the change of personality which bring significant relationship with both positive and negative personalities. Hence, it can be concluded that the six days voluntary fasting in the month of Syawal contributed to the changes of personality among Muslims.
Long-distance marriages are commonly performed by dual-career couples particularly teachers. This study aimed to measure the relationship between trust and commitment with maintenance of marriage among teachers who living in commuter marriages. This study was conducted on 110 teachers around Kota Kinabalu Sabah from secondary and primary schools. The research design was a quantitative study using a set of questionnaires to get feedback from respondents. The Dyadic Trust Scale (DTS) (Larzelere & Huston, 1981), The Investment Model Scale (IMS) (Rusbult, Martz & Agnew, 1998), Relationship Maintenance Scale (RMS) (Chonody, Killian, Gabb & Dunk-West, 2017) were used to measure the variables involved.The results showed that trust and commitment are positively related to marriage maintenance. The implications of this study are for teachers to acknowledge that trust and commitment play an important role in their marriage.
This paper details the development of the Love for Writing and Publishing Journal (LWPJ) Module, which encourages writing in a scientific and simple way through the approach of the Self Determination Theory, Social Constructivism Theory, and Successful Intelligence Theory. The content of the module was constructed through information obtained from a literature review and interviews with six experts who have produced many high-impact journal articles. The developed module was used in a two-day online training course, with participant monitoring before, during, and after the course through WhatsApp. This study used a mixed methods approach of design and development research. Using this method, the research was carried out in three phases. The first phase involved needs analysis; the second phase included design and development; and the third phase involved evaluation of the module. The research led to the successful development of the LWPJ Module by fostering a love for writing and publication of scholarly writing among course participants. The module benefits postgraduate students and academics at the higher education level by ensuring that scholarly articles are successfully completed and submitted for publication. This study has implications on the development of a culture of excellence and a culture of love for scholarly writing and publication among postgraduate students and academics from various walks of life at school and university levels.
Islam is aimed at fulfilling all demands of life. Waqf is one of the elements considered as a gift to the community. Waqf included in the aspects of philanthropy and love of humanity and respect each other because it is a part of the concerns towards fellow Muslims. In addition to that, philanthropy also links humanity love as a basis of peace of all nations. However, current discussions on humanitarian or philanthropic remains opaque among Muslims. Using qualitative methods in a thematic analysis of Waqf, this paper analyzed to which extent government agencies and non-governmental organizations play their roles in helping the society to ensure the well-being of the ummah. Keywords: Humanity, Philantrophy, Philantrophist, Waqf. ABSTRAK: Kehadiran Islam adalah bertujuan untuk memenuhi semua tuntutan kehidupan. Wakaf adalah salah satu elemen yang dianggap sebagai satu pemberian kepada masyarakat. Wakaf termasuk dalam aspek filantrofi dan cinta kemanusiaan dan berkait antara satu sama lain kerana ia adalah satu cabang yang dilihat dalam Islam menjurus kepada sifat keprihatinan sesama muslim. Selain itu, aspek Filantrofi atau kedermawanan juga menghubungkan cinta kemanusian yang menjadi asas kepada titik tolak kedamaian semua bangsa di seluruh dunia. Perbincangan semasa mengenai cinta kemanusiaan atau filantrofi masih kabur dalam pandangan umat Islam. Dengan adanya badan-badan organisasi wakaf dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) yang ditubuhkan sekaligus dapat membantu ekonomi umat Islam ke arah yang lebih baik. Apabila wakaf dan cinta kemanusiaan dapat dihayati sepenuhnya, maka ia dapat menyumbang kepada kesejahteraan ummah. Pengkaji menggunakan kaedah kualitatif secara analisis tematik berkaitan Wakaf. Oleh itu, pengkaji akan menganalisis bagaimana peranan badan-badan kerajaan dan badan-badan bukan kerajaan memainkan peranan dalam membantu masyarakat menjamin kesejahteraan ummah. The Muslims have been challenged significantly during the pandemic, both mentally and physically. Staying safe and healthy have been a great concern of all throughout the world. The prophetic ways of life have been fundamental examples in how we could go about in dealing with the disastrous effects of the pandemic, and also the AEFI (Adverse Effect Following Immunizations) that could affect some individuals in various ways. The purpose of this study is to promote the benefits of cupping (hijamah) as one of the ways in dealing with the AEFI that may cause blockage in the brain, heart attacks and sudden death. Cupping therapy (CT) is used in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and is prevalent in Muslim communities where it is a recommended sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Cupping has been studied tremendously and proven to improve one’s health conditions related to high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterols, knee and joint pains, asthma, acne, migraine, respiratory problems and other medical issues. Cupping is also proven to be able to help improve one’s mental and physical health when affected by COVID- 19 or other diseases that increase dramatically during this pandemic. Finally, some challenges and their implications are discussed with recommendations.
