Adjusting to a life at Islamic boarding schools can be a very unique experience, many students are struggling and trying to cope with this new situation. The purpose of this research was to determine the correlation between spiritual quotient and the adjustment of student at Islamic Boarding School. The analysis method involved a cross sectional approach, with a population size was 60 students of class VII, who live in boarding school. Furthermore, a large sample size of 53 people was selected; using simple random technique, with the independent variable being spiritual quotient and the dependent was self-adjustment. Data analysis used a Chi-Square test, where hipotesis H1 is accepted if ρ < α = 0.05. The results showed that all respondents, who had low spiritual quotient, possessed a negative self-adjustment compared with other respondents. Chi-Square statistical test results, with a significant level α = 0.05 obtained the value of p (0.000), indicating a relationship between spiritual quotient and adjustment. In conclusion, a better spiritual quotient possessed by student, affects the process of adjustment
BACKGROUND: The learning system carried out online during the COVID-19 pandemic increasingly supports students to delay working on assignments. AIM: The purpose of this study was to explore the academic procrastination of students during a pandemic. METHODS: This research using a cross-sectional study research method with 399 nursing students as respondents, data were collected using Google Forms which was circulated online, data were processed using descriptive, Pearson, and linear regression methods. RESULTS: Pearson’s results show that there is a positive correlation for age, fear of failure, aversiveness of task, difficulty making decisions, dependency, lack of assertion, risk taking, and rebellion against control. The results of the linear regression test showed that aversiveness of task, dependency, and lack of assertion were the strongest predictors of students’ reasons for procrastinating. CONCLUSION: Academic procrastination by students, if carried out continuously and repeatedly, will have an impact on academic performance, grades, and mental health.
Introduction: The new daily activities undertaken by students at the Islamic boarding school are a time of change, in terms of individual religiosity and social interaction. This is because not all new students have the experience of living in boarding schools. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between religiosity and social support with student adaptation in Islamic boarding schools. Method: The design of this study was cross-sectional. The sample was 102 new students who were living in a boarding school for less than a year which were taken by simple random sampling. The independent variables were religiosity and social support, the dependent variable was student adaptation. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Binary Logistic Regression test Results: The results of the Chi-Square test analysis showed that p-value = 0.042 and p-value = 0.021, which means that there is a significant relationship between the two variables. Meanwhile, the results of the binary logistic regression analysis showed that p-value = 0.220, which means that 22% of the student adaptation variable can be explained by the variable of religiosity and social support. Conclusions: The higher the level of religiosity and social support, the higher and easier the students will adapt. It is hoped that the Islamic boarding school caretakers will be able to carry out mentoring activities for new students so that it can make it easier for students to adapt.
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted all aspects of our lives including educational practices. The social distancing and restrictive movement policies have forced institutions across the globe to shift from conventional to online learning methods. This makes the learning process more difficult, not just for regular students but also for international freshmen. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of online learning on international freshmen’s academic exposure. Qualitative research was done using a single case study of an international freshman at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya, Indonesia who due to the pandemic had to begin the session with online classes. Data were collected through in-depth interviews using Zoom meetings and documentation. The interview was focused to find out students’ approach toward online learning and academic exposure during the COVID-19 pandemic while the documentation was done to know the results of academic exposure. It was found that the students had a cultural shock in terms of language and network connection. Therefore, the authors recommend the universities to provide a supportive environment to freshmen and the students to work on their adaptive capability for such situations. The obedience to prevent HIV/AIDS spreading was needed to make HIV/AIDS epidemic doesn’t come true. Transsexual prostitution is one of community that sensitively to HIV/AIDS contagious. They have to prevent it to their self with using condom, never swallow the sperm and do screening test regularly. This study was aimed to analyze factors correlating with transsexual prostitutes obedience in preventing a HIV/AIDS contagion. This study used cross sectional design. The population is all transsexual prostitute. Total sample was 40 respondent, selected using purposive sampling. The dependent variable is the obedience, and the independent variable are knowledge, economic motivation, motivation to make customer satisfaction. The data collected using questionnaire. The data was analyzed using spearman’s rho correlation test with level of significance of ρ = 0.05 Result revealed that between knowledge with the obedience to prevent HIV/AIDS contagion has no correlation, with ρ = 0.442 and r = (-)0.125. and between economic motivation with the obedience to prevent HIV/AIDS contagion has no correlation with ρ = 0.875 and r = 0.026. motivation to make customer satisfaction with the obedience to prevent HIV/AIDS contagion has no correlation with ρ = 0.889 and r = (-)0.023. It can be concluded that the knowledge, economic motivation, motivation to make customer satisfaction is not always influencing to the transsexual prostitute obedience to prevent HIV/AIDS contagion, because its all about get so much money to survive. We hope that the transsexual prostitute will get general check up or screening and better measurement tool to obtain more accurate result.Key Word : Obedience, knowledge, economic motivation, customer satisfaction, HIV/AIDS.
