One of the typical Indonesian plants that have the potential as an immunomodulator is the genus Etlingera. Indonesia has three species of the genus Etlingera, namely E. elatior, E. hemisphaerica , and E. pauciflora . The purpose of this study was to review information on previous studies regarding the morphology, chemical composition, and immunomodulatory activity of three species of the genus Etlingera ( E. elatior, E. hemisphaerica , and E. pauciflora ). This research is a qualitative research with a systematic literature review method. The results showed that the morphology of the three species of the genus Etlingera could be distinguished from the shape of each part of the plant. E. elatior flowers have white edges with a tapered crown, while E. hemisphaerica flowers have bright yellow edges with wide flower crowns. E. pauciflora has orange-red flowers with an elongated pointed shape. This plant contains various compounds that can increase the body's immunity such as flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, saponins and essential oils . Etlingera elatior showed the highest activity as an immunostimulant with a phagocytosis mechanism, while Etlingera hemisphaerica species also had activity with a significant increase in leukocyte count but remained within normal limits so as to increase immunity. No further research has been found on E. pauciflora species regarding its chemical content and immunomodulatory activity. It can be concluded that the plants of the Etlingera genus can be distinguished morphologically, while two of the three species, namely E. elatior and E. hemisphaerica have activity as immunostimulants with the main content being flavonoids
