We clinically and histopathologically analyzed 41 cemento-osseous dysplasias in 39 patients treated at the 1 st Department of Oral and Maxillofcial Surgery, Tokyo Medical and Dental University between 1979 and 1998. Among the 39 patients, 9 were male and 30 female. The average age of the patients was 58.5 years. The tumor occurred most frequently in the mandible (37 cases, 90.2%), especially in the molar region. According to the new WHO classification (1992), there were 11 cases of periapical cemental dysplasia, 3 cases of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia, and 27 cases of other types of cemento-osseous dysplasia. There was no recurrence between 6 months and 15 years of any of the 41 lesions treated by sugery.
