This handbook has been prepared by the Solar Energy Research Institute under the U.S.Department of Energy Solar Technical Information Program. It is intended as a guide to the design, testing, operation, and manufacture of small-scale [less than 200 kW (270 hpJ] gasifiers. A great deal of the information will be useful for all levels of biomass gasification. The handbook is meant to be a practical guide to gasifier systems, and a minimum amount of space is devoted to questions of more theoretical interest. We apologize in advance for mixing English and Scientifique Internationale (SI) units. Whenever possible, we have used SI units, with the corresponding English units fol lowing in parentheses. Unfortunately, many of the figures use English units, and it would have been too difficult to convert all of these figures to both units. We have sup plied a conversion chart in the Appendix to make these conversions easier for the reader.Mr. Bill Nostrand, one of our very helpful reviewers, died in May 1985. Bill was num ber one in the ranks of those who became interested in gasification because of its poten tial for supplying clean, renewable energy. We all will miss him. The improvement of gasification systems will be noticeably slowed by his death. We dedicate this book to the Bill Nostrands of this world who will bring gasifier systems to the level of safety, cleanliness, and reliability required to realize their full potential. Thanks, Bill.
It has been posited that high self-esteem persons (high SEs) are more confident than low self-esteem persons (low SEs) of their capability to provide meaningful input in a decision process. If this is so, then high SEs should be more influenced by their perceived level of voice, relative to low SEs. Survey data from 4 field studies showed that voice was more positively related to various dependent variables among high SEs than low SEs. In Study 5, the authors experimentally manipulated voice as well as participants' beliefs about their capability to provide meaningful input. As expected, voice had a greater impact on the reactions of participants who were led to believe that they were more capable of providing meaningful input. Theoretical implications are discussed.
The new synthetic zeolite. Type A, is cubic, a" -12.32 A., and X-ray data are consistent with space group 01-Pm.'lni.The unit cell composition is Mei2/" ](A102)i2(Si02)i2]-fVH20 where Me is an exchangeable cation of charge n, and N varies from 20 to 30, The unit cell dimension varies slightly with the cation present. The aluminosilicate framework consists of 24(Si,Al)A), tetrahedra which are joined to form 8-membered oxygen rings in the faces and distorted 6-membeved rings on the 3-fold axes. A large cavity 11.4 A. in diameter occupies the center of the cell and smaller 6.6 A. cavities are located on the 3-fold axes.Probable positions of the cations in the lithium, sodium, thallium and calcium forms are indicated, and correlation of the structure with the adsorptive and ion-exchange properties of the Type A zeolite is discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
