This paper presents design and materials considerations involved in the production of large, free standing glass reinforced plastic (GRP) industrial stacks. Because of large wind loads, such stacks must be designed with sophisticated structural analysis techniques, especially at load transfer points. This paper details such considerations for the world's tallest GRP stack.
Vapor deposition and polymerization of dichloro-diparaxylylene produces a parylene polymer film whose uniqueness as a superior conformal coating can be attributed to a combination of excellent properties and high throwing power. Additional advantages for low outgassing environments have been suggested for films whose composition and structure are critically controlled. Variations in vaporization temperature, pyrolysis temperature, material charge, deposition load, and charge/load ratio were made and the resultant films analyzed. Mechanical, spectroscopic, thermal, and chromatographic analysis of these films have elucidated the dependence of their oligomeric content and structure on deposition conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
